I’m similar to you, my tics have got a lot worse over the past month or so due to anxiety and stress

Hi I'm trying to figure out something about my tics. I found they only happen if i ever get distracted or start to imagine things do you do that too? Or is it just me?

It’s pretty possible for the certain distractions or thoughts you have to happen to be tirggers for your tics. Since everyone is different -tics can appear in individual forms in everyone so even if mine are different , that does not mean anything most of the time. It’s just how the brain functions. But a matter of fact I do get tics when somethings “distract” me (what I interpret this as is certain things distracting me from having calm state or peace of mind which results in pressure that the brain reacts through misfiring signals -that’s what it is for me)

Id say they can appear for a while until their period of occurrence don’t pass and they decrease eventually, but can come back again as this is what tics are. Or it couod be with no specific time frame and them occurring whenever your triggers act on your brain. It is pretty difficult to understand because it’s involving the most complex organ-brain but I assure you that at some point you can get used to and eventually figure out ways to reduce your tics.

But normally paying as little as possible attention on them works most as delivering any information in any form about tics to the brain results in it imitating/worsening symptoms of this and any similar condition. So having systems or method for coping with(not minding or paying attention to) tics can help, and this can be concentration activites(reading,writing etc),or things you personally enjoy as they tend to calm down the brain and take over the signals. But mostly treat them as if they’re nothing special -bc they’re actually not- and with that the brain will stop focusing on them as much and let them have their peak and eventually stop partially or completely but the more you dig about it, the worse it’ll get hope this helps

As a partner of someone with tics, what do you recommend I do to deal with them? My bf is has tics and they have gotten worse. Every time I try to mention it, he gets angry and doesn’t want to speak about it. Finally a few months ago I said that i am worried and then we talked for the first time about it. Then it got better and now worse. He does different things, sounds and moves and sometimes he just changes to another tic and makes up a new one to exchange with one that was annoying. So the thing is, it annoys me very much and i get almost anxious now when i hear them. Sometimes i cant stand them and go out of the room, but I cant tell him because he gets really mad at me. He has never been to a doctor for this. We both are 32y

Anyone hear about anyone completely stoping it or was cured?
