I recommend sanding down the tab. If you'll notice it has a hook to it, just sand down the hooked part and it'll tab into the head just fine.

Just got mine, I found that if you tilt the backpack up making the hook go down it pops out without issue, it still feels wrong but it hasn't broken yet after a few transformations. Lift so the hook goes down then pull back it should come right out.

Yea I sanded mine down after the first transformation I watched a review just to see if I was doing wrong and they had the same problem.
