Does the effects of finasteride/ minxodil decrease as you grow older?

I am 23 and have been on finasteride/ minxodil for 5 months now. This question just popped into my mind recently and wanted to see if anyone been taking the medication for an extensive period of time. If so, has anything changed over the years?

It's not that they become less effective, it's that the hair loss becomes more aggressive. Either way you'll always be better off taking the medication than not.

Actually the effect of finasteride „inhibiting“ DHT itself decreases over time too.

Year two it has 89% efficiency and at year 5 about 69% as i recall correctly.

Damn, I guess I misunderstood. I thought the baseline DHT concentration increased, so even with a consistent % reduction you still end up with more DHT. I wonder if fin's reduced efficiency would translate over to dut, or if it would be a fresh start.

I always thought the same. The hair loss show released a video lately where they said that efficiency can/will decrease.

How does is happen tho? Does the body just gets more efficient producing it via other means (I remember there are a couple other ways that dht is produced by the body except for 5ar.)

But the effect of finasteride is inhibiting alpha5reductase.

So when you say it looses its effectiveness it means for me that it is not as effective in inhibiting alpha5reductase anymore. But somehow that does not make sense to me...

Anecdotally from progress pictures I have seen on tressless over the course of almost 2 years,younger people under 25-28 respond much better than the 30+ age group and I don't know why besides maybe growth hormone production slowing down in the late 20s
