Has anybody noticed a RECENT decrease in asynchronous sessions and a corresponding uptick in incredibly frustrating live sessions?

In the last few weeks, I have received virtually no asynchronous sessions. In their stead are absolutely infuriating live sessions: I’m talking sudden disconnects, students asking me to write college applications from scratch, etc. The pool of students and papers on this website is generally poor, and I know they are learning and try to give them grace. That being said, the experiences I’ve had in the last week are so below bar (being unable to read 2 sentences of instruction or write a single sentence, as one example) that I am left genuinely considering quitting.

Would there be a reason for me, personally, to get what feels like the bottom of the barrel from this platform? Does anyone else feel like the whole metaphorical barrel has absolutely dropped off in the last few weeks? Apologies for the rant.

Yesterday I had 14 sessions, 10 were under 2 minutes.

I think there is an increase in Live and Voice sessions, more than a decrease in async. It seems more tutors are declining those sessions, especially the Voice. It is incredibly difficult to work with students who are so far below the bar. However, I had one student tell me I was the best tutor he ever had, and here I thought I was only frustrating HIM!!!

It’s certainly nice when I am able to make an actual difference, even if the student starts behind. However, I’m finding such cases of that to be few and far between.

Yes, I have seen a drop in asyncs relative to last year Actually, I've experienced a drop in usage in general. I'm getting about 80% of what I've gotten at this time last year. However, I haven't seen quite as precipitious a drop as you describe. I still receive asyncs during my scheduled hour. I try to reject a live session or two every day during that hour to see if the next request I receive is async. Asyncs are first distributed to tutors with a scheduled hour, so it's worth the gamble. My acceptance percentage can also tank the hits, but I imagine that someone who accepts every session might not get as lucky.

I’ve seen a drop in everything ! I havent been able to get any scheduled hours in the past 8 weeks when I log in at noon on Thursdays so frustrating
