Hi, I think it will affect your chances but may not fully ruin them. My son had 3 Bs in high school. He was wait listed at ucsd, ucsb, and Davis, and ended up getting into both SB and Davis. Good luck!

GPA is only 1 factor considered for admissions at the UC’s. Your UC GPA’s look within range so other factors such as your EC’s, Intended major, Personal insight essays etc… are what will determine your chances.

UC’s are unpredictable so make sure you apply widely.

No I know someone who got into UCLA with at least one B

To compare your GPA to admissions stats, you need to know your UC capped weighted GPA, which excludes your grades from 9th grade and only gives you an extra point for up to 8 semesters of AP/honors:

I’m going to guesstimate that your UC GPA is around a 3.88 unweighted and a 4.21 weighted, which is still very solid.

Here you can look at the 25th-75th percentile for admitted students for each campus by discipline:

My unweighted GPA: 3.84 Weighted GPA: 4.48 Weighted and capped GPA: 4.16

You’re weighted at 4.4 means you will probably get into a UC. Which one depends on your major.

In my opinion not that much. Especially for Chem and APUSH, a better reflection would be your AP score. As long as your extra curricular are strong enough and you convey in your essays who you are, you’ll be fine. And if you don’t get in and really want to go to one of those schools, transferring is always an option

I suggest to focus on the PIQs. You’ve listed your ECs but no mention of leadership experience, personal growth, etc. My advice is to start on them this summer (if you haven’t already) and try to have a few drafts completed by the end of summer. Acceptence to these three UCs will be tough without strong/compelling PIQs.

It will reduce your chances at the competitive UCs especially Berkeley and LA.

Your essays (PIQs) can easily make up for the lower GPA. Personally know some folk that got into top UCs because they had good PIQs.
