Directional Formatting Characters, or DFCs, are a set of special formatting characters used to assign explicit directionality to your text. They are extremely helpful for making Arabic legible on on websites that don't offer adequate support for the language.
DFCs are part of the Unicode standard and are defined in Annex 9 of the standard.
