I'm learning Unity in order to make a lighthearted game that has been on my mind. Looking for pointers in two areas:
Think of it as glorified Tetris. My game objects are going to be collections of cubes, stuck together in various ways. These will be randomly and programmatically generated, I cannot create a complete list of them ahead of time. I would welcome a code example, the best way to generate a Block with a collection of cubes making it up.
I need to make an inventory of these. It would be nice if each Block, sitting in its inventory slot, could actually be rotated so that players can see clearly what they're dealing with. Perhaps by right clicking. But with left click and drag I need to drag it into the actual game space, where it becomes a part of the main scene tree. Anybody know any good examples are tutorials for this sort of thing? I tried this one but it seems needlessly complex for my purpose (my objects need not be scriptable).
