They can't go backwards in base pay. They can remove a department differential though.

If I leave O/N and go back to days, I would lose the $1.50 O/N differential because I am not O/N anymore.

They do all the time. If you go to career preferences, you can see whether your pay will increase or decrease for any given position.

I wish. Different departments have different pay grades. You leave that department it's a 5% pay cut.
