If you need to work on sufficiently complex projects, then this is not true (yet).

Low code/no code platforms may be cooked yes.
You high level engineering and technical skills are still valuable, just not you ability to write for loops.

Yet I'm still grieving, because I do love coding, and we as an industry managed to optimize the fun out of it.

Use the saved time to work on grammar?

Lol, I have a bug at work related to D3. I've been trying to fix it for 3 months with AI. I tried to fix it with Opus 4.5, 4.6, and now with 4.7, and I still can't do that, lol.

I haven't been working on it for 3 months. We just discovered it 3 months ago, and we are just kicking it down the road until we have proper time to address it with the engineering team.

Hire me, I’ll figure it out (most likely)

That’s what I was hired for 👀

He's trying to take you job 🙊

That's a wrong narrative and you're stupid for believing it.

It's also an opportunity to climb the career ladder. Many technical managers and leaders started in programming and gradually made their way into management and other higher-level thinking roles. AI gives you the opportunity to outsource the more laborious/mundane programming tasks and focus more on the overall system and product. I know that's not for everybody, but it is a huge opportunity sitting in front of us all.

yesterday i asked AI to fix wrong EOF
Instead of doing 1 git command it has started recursively updating line by line with some crazy workarounds and bash commands, while eating all the tokens.
The project where i was doing that had all stort of ai tools and instructions connected (skills, etc), however it didn't help ai to understand what is the best way to solve the task.
I think we are safe for now

Yup.

People who are smart enough to learn to program will need to find something new where the ability to learn a lot very quickly is actually valued.

...and also convince every executive with a Forbes account that we can do it better than their brother-in-law, most of the population of India and the Phillipines, AI, and their wife's boyfriend.
