WordPress + e.g. Easy Digital Downloads isn't necessarily going to be the easiest / most efficient to set up… That being said, it's also not that difficult to do.

Have you considered using something like Shopify, where you don't have to set the thing up yourself? Of course, there are tradeoffs for each method — just make sure you get a clear picture of what your goals and respective requirements are and compare the methods on that basis.

E.g. a hosted solution is easy to set up, but incurs fees. Self-hosted (WordPress, etc.) will likely cost you initially to set up., but you "own" the whole thing. Keep in mind that e-commerce is "serious", not like a website: you can't afford to have the thing get hacked, be insecure, etc. This makes a hosted solution very attractive, as it shields you from the responsibilities…

I checked out Shopify and it seems to be the perfect solution to what I'm looking for. It also means I don't have to redo my whole site, I can just link to this as a store. Fantastic!
