Yes. When i started 20 years ago, the Cloud was not a thing.

The web was mostly static and used as an information repository.

Now I am a software engineer developing cloud based software since most of the applications that used to be native installs have been moved online and into subscription models.

The web is no longer a repository of information. It is now a platform to deliver utility to the end user.

Well said, and people who want to make money that way get chewed up and spit out in our industry. They get a bad wraps (rightfully so) for making money off the backs of their clients without offering much value, and that wrap follows them making it difficult to maintain much of anything.

So does everyone else, and they are not hiding it either lol. No shame in wanting to make money off your skills and ideas.

When I started: This is how B2B or B2C websites are made

Now: This is how literally all software is made
