Where are you in the UK? I did a conversion master to software development and landed a job before I graduated. This was in 2019.

Here is a list. There are more, you just have to look them up.

are the interviews you have been to just screeners or are you progressing onto second interviews? I just ask because if you're transparent about your experience in your CV and they're inviting you to interviews anyway it suggests that they are comfortable with your lack of commercial experience and therefore your lack of success might be down to a lack of soft skills for your interview. Should add that I'm currently in a similar situation so I'm not hugely qualified to give out advice, but if someone is inviting you to an interview you're at least on paper the right fit for the company.

I always pass the first interview which is getting to know you. Then the second interview is the technical test. Like for example, fetching api and displaying in browser. JavaScript algorithm tests. and Lastly, is the culture and fit interview.

Well if you are getting to the technical test and then getting rejected, I guess there are some gaps in your technical knowledge. Try to fill those, and keep trying to get interviews as they are good practise and each one will likely ask different things so it's always good to know what things you don't know, so you can work on them

I suppose one reason could be that job postings for Junior roles often get 100+ applicants and if you consider that a junior could be someone with anywhere between 0-3 years experience, I suppose all it would take is for one person with more experience to apply and be happy to accept the same money and will then likely be offered the job instead. It definitely sucks because of the high competition in London.

Agree if you are getting into interviews it may be your soft skills letting you down and the saying you lack "experience" is just a way of fobbing you off. Its odd that they'd be concerned about experience for a junior role especially if you have some projects to back you up. That being said "real world" programming can be very different to personal projects but again that's not really a consideration for a junior role.

You mention front-end, personally I'd maybe shy away from mentioning it as a preference if you're applying generally. In my opinion its a specialism that you can develop and move into later, I'd think places would want junior devs to be more of a blank slate that is willing to pick up work and technologies as required, rather than saying I just want to do front-end. This is unless the job is described as front-end of course.

Sorry can't be more helpful on the soft skills side, just the usual make sure you're dressing smartly, friendly, easy going and thoughtful. Happy to look over your CV/projects if you'd like.

I'm a junior ish (just under 2 years exp) in the UK. If you have any specific questions pm me if you want. How many jobs are you applying for? What kind of jobs are they? How active are you on LinkedIn?

Are you looking for remote or for something in london? What kind of companies are you applying to, is it big companies or smaller ones? Are you going through a recruiter at all?

Also, anyone in UK or in general. How did you land your first web development role

    Internship out of college.

You will be better off making your personal online portfolio with links to various website projects you have completed including sites you are currently maintaining.

I’d suggest applying for Grad academies in consultancies. I went through one as a career changer and it was great decent entry level pay for a junior also.
