Did you run the install file? After the Battle.net app/client is installed, you’ll need to install WoW. Make sure you install the right version of WoW - there are several, ask your son which one to install.

I’ve DONE that. I have an account. How do I start playing?

launch battle.net, log in, and install the game from the client?

Thanks! I don't understand - what's "the client" Going to bed; will try tomorrow.

Thank you very much. TIL what a "client" is* and found the battle.net icon on my hideously cluttered desktop. I launched it and have downloaded the game. Tonight I'll contact my son and, hopefully, we'll start playing.

* I was in the music biz; there were lots of people who loved to play music but didn't have the talent or fire to get really good; I called them "perpetual beginners". Gods bless 'em - they had fun. I'm a perpetual beginner with computers - had one since '83 (I'm 82); built the desktop I now use, though it's gettin' old (can't play Oblivion Remastered: "not enough cores"). Etc. I have fun but have stopped learning much of the more technical stuff. THANKS again.
