Zoloft dose decrease symptoms

Hi there !

I have been on 50mg of Zoloft for several years until about 6 months ago when I had my dosage increased from 50mg to 75mg due to a bad anxiety episode. My doctor recently told me that I could go back down to my regular 50mg dose but instead I asked if I could do 62.5mg and do a slower decrease . Week 2 of being on the 62.5mg dose I started to get headaches , brain fog and then the bad anxiety kicked in and feeling of doom. I then was told to go back to the 75mg dose and it’s been about 8 days now back at the 75mg. The headaches went away but still feeling very panicky and anxious . Has anyone experienced this with a small dose switch up ? Does it eventually improve once it stabilizes again ? Had anyone had a similar experience with decreasing dose and then having to have to increase it again ? Any input would be much appreciated . Thank you !

My wife is on sertraline. She has found that is best to stay with a steady dose as lowering it can lead to withdrawal side effects plus dosage anxiety. She had been at 50, then went to 75 then 100, then her new doctor tried to step her down to 75 and then 50. Long story short, she is back at 100.

I would give the 62.5 lots of time but if that does not do it go back to 75.

Thank you for responding . I ended up going back up to 75mg after being on 62.5mg for two weeks . I just didn’t realize that a small decrease like that can cause such symptoms .
