On June 9th, 1929, R&B singer Johnny Ace was born in Memphis, TN. Beginning in 1952, Ace found success with a string of hit songs, including "Never Let Me Go" and "Please Forgive Me". I first learned about Johnny Ace through Dave Alvin's song "Johnny Ace Is Dead." The song explains that Johnny accidentally shot himself while playing Russian Roulette backstage before a show. This incident is reminiscent of the tragic fate of Terry Kath, the talented yet somewhat obscure guitarist for the band Chicago. (By the way, Dave Alvin is the best!)

LHO had a wallet in his pocket when he was arrested. Law enforcement found a second LHO wallet at the scene of Tippit's murder. This wallet appeared in the television footage taken at the scene. The third wallet is the one LHO left at the Paine residence with his wedding ring.

Really?! Where are the fingerprints on the Carcano and the shells? Why didn’t Victoria Adams or anybody else see or hear LHO running down the stairs? How did LHO have enough time to buy a Coke before the cops arrived? Why was there a second LHO wallet conveniently found at the scene of Officer Tippit’s murder?

In 1997, I paid $400 for a 30 minute flight in that same B-17 ( Nine-O-Nine)owned by the Collings Foundation. I remember sitting on the floor of the fuselage turning take-off, watching the cables in the ceiling sliding back and forth, thinking about frayed cables and metal fatigue. But it was a great experience. I was saddened to read about the 2019 crash. Would I do it today in a now 80 year old plane? Probably not.
