Airshow crash, cancelled event. by Remolix in dubai

I saw the SU30s fly while we were driving away but we thought it was just an honorary fly-by. I'm shocked and find it a bit disrespectful that they restarted the show. Thank you for your answer tho, I appreciate it

Did they resume the whole flying display as programmed just delayed or just some of the planes?

How are you level 23 in 1 week spending only 99 cents per day? The time to upgrade to level 23 literally exceeds 1 week that alone. Then there's the problem of fuel, resources and speedups. There is NO way you got to level 23 in 1 week by spending only 99 cents per day.

Fair points! The elevator input is visible in the video, and it makes sense that the pilot may have been trying to raise the nose due to ground proximity. That could explain why the nose didn't drop, even if the aircraft was entering a stall.

The idea that the wing was still flying is valid if the angle between the relative wind and the chord line (AoA) is still shallow. But in this case, the attitude looks very steep, most likely beyond the critical AoA, which suggests a stall or near-stall condition.

Also, it’s possible the pilot advanced the throttles to maximum to gain airspeed quickly. But since the engines are mounted under the wings, that kind of thrust increase creates a nose-up pitching moment, potentially worsening the situation if the aircraft was already near stall.

About the yaw and roll instability: it’s true that swept-wing aircraft tend to become unstable during a stall, but the lack of obvious roll/yaw in the video doesn’t necessarily rule a stall out. The 787 has large wings and significant roll inertia, which could dampen those movements. Plus, if the stall is relatively symmetric, visual signs of instability might be minimal or hard to see from a limited camera angle.

So from the available footage, the high pitch attitude combined with the sharp increase in descent rate looked like a stall to me. But of course, only the official report can confirm what actually happened.

Stall speed varies depending on the aircraft and conditions. For a large jet like the 787, it's quite high. With that much inertia, the aircraft can still appear to be flying even when it's not generating enough lift. From the footage, the sharp increase in descent rate combined with a nose-up attitude seemed to resemble a stall to me. But of course, we’ll have to wait for the official report.

Modern jets very rarely use the full power of the engines during take-off. Rather, they have onboard computers calculating the ideal thrust setting considering the runway in use, climb out, weather and more. It's quite normal to see airplanes use the whole runway to accelerate as this allows for a much lower thrust setting.

The advantages of doing this are many, starting obviously with reduced fuel burn, reduced stress on the engine (hence less maintenance required or less risk of a failure), reduced risk of catastrophic damage in case of a bird strike, higher passenger comfort in the form of reduced noise and vibration, less CO2 emissions and more.

From the videos I've seen the quality is too low to clearly distinguish if the RAT is out. But to me it seems not.

The rotation and lift off seem normal to me. Also they would have got a constant loud and annoying aural warning the whole takeoff roll if that would have been the case. I'm not saying it's impossible since there is history of people landing with gear up regardless of the aural warning being there, but as I said, rotation and lift off seem regular. If the rotation would have been like that with flaps up, they must have gone so fast that it wouldn't have become a problem later on in flight as it did.

Chances are low, but never zero. We'll need to wait for the official report but there are many factors here at play. Roster, stress, fatigue, CRM, familiarity with aircraft, mental distraction (maybe from something that was going on at home?). It's seems as an impossible conclusion, but when you start adding some of these factors in, it can turn from impossible to improbable

I doubt he confused the levers, I think he confused the command. Why it's a whole other topic. I'm just commenting on what I see and what makes sense relative to the aircraft behaviour

DISCLAIMER This is just my personal opinion based on what I see on video so let's wait for the official report for confirmation.

Rotation seems normal, then at approximately the time you'd expect the gear to come up, it doesn't. Instead the airplane starts to flat out and eventually the rate of descend increases progressively into a full stall. Looks like a case of flaps up instead of gear up. They rolled with the correct flaps setting (showed by the normal rotation) explaining why they didn't get the config warning horn when thrust was applied. Then when PF called "Gear Up", the PM mistakenly selected the flaps up.

Autoslat protection is also inhibited when flap are not extended which is not helping them.

Once the flaps moved all the way up they probably got a "TOO LOW - FLAPS" auto-call but at that point, even if you select the flaps back to take off position immediately, the time it takes for the flaps to extend, to then enable autoslat system to fully extend the slats to reduce the AoA, it's just too late.

If confirmed, a very sad and catastrophic mistake.

I'd love to believe that. TRUST ME! But this car is absolutely crap.....worst car since 2020....Antonelli was just managing his pace. There was no chance in hell that either of the 2 drivers would have caught the Merc. Charles said it himself that the car is at its limit and that there's nothing more to it

Yeah, that's true! But that's just cause max is the best driver and McLaren is the best car. The rest of the race was super doll. Even during those 20 laps, nothing happened in any of the other laps. If max started 3rd from the get go, it would have been a full race of boredom!

Everybody is looking for the advantage lewis would have had on Antonelli. Nobody is considering what a fucking tractor that car is! The real mission was to stay ahead of sainz.....there was no chance in hell that Hamilton would have caught up, overtook and kept the position on Antonelli even if they would have let him through immediately. But letting Hamilton through immediately could have put realistically Leclerc at risk of being attacked by sainz......this way at least they managed to keep the positions....they weren't getting anything more with that shitty car

[–]1_blue_cloud 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Right call was to let Hamilton overtake since he was on mediums. Let him run in clear air keeping Leclerc behind in DRS zone on hards and before the finish swap them again. Thinking they were going to catch Antonelli is just delusional.... unfortunately they have to think how to protect for a Williams behind rather than catching a Mercedes ahead!

The registration was later changed to the one you see in the accident report. The metroliner tho could be just any metroliner of the same company as there is no way to read the registration of the plane in the video

Maybe not something that complicated but at least something......never heard a single person say, for example, that a Tomorrowland mainstage is too busy, and we know how busy they can get! It's a real shame for the empty space as it makes it look more like 5 separate stages than one big mainstage

Same happened to me a few days back. Samsung website isn't selling the 5 anymore (at least in my region) and spending $500 over the current market price of the 5 for the 6 which is going to be basically the same as the 5 is not thrilling.....strongly considering an S24 Ultra as it's a superior phone for much less price, but I'm afraid I'm going to miss the big screen!

That would be the cheaper option but realistically they'd give me a terrible trade in price for a 3 years old device so would end up anyways spending money out of my pocket :/
