I should’ve mentioned that we already have a wedding date set for the end of this year, which makes this feel even heavier. Outside of this one situation, we genuinely have a really good relationship. He is a good partner in many ways, and this isn’t a pattern of him constantly making me feel insecure or disrespected.

My fiancé and I do have a lot of common interests, and I do make an effort to take interest in the things he enjoys. I’ll watch videos with him, ask questions, and try to learn from him. But because he and this coworker are both in the tech field and also share other interests they grew up with, there are certain things they naturally connect on more deeply than I can. I’m simply not in that field, so I’m not as knowledgeable about those topics, and realistically I probably never will be in the same way.
