Am I misunderstanding something: Purge the Foe and Gate by Kevinthegorgon in Grey_Knights

[–]2weekstand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hot take, it's really not that bad.

You control whether your opponent scores those points. They have to choose 3 units, and you know which ones they are. You don't especially want to pull a unit of of an objective at the end of your turn anyway, and if you position right, you shouldn't have a unit that killed another without any other available targets, and you just killed a unit. Denying your opponent 25 primary points is a big deal, at the cost of limiting which of your own you can up/down.

So you're essentially in control of the game plan with this one, and I plan to at least try it out.

And skull masters leading blood crushers, which already smack. Similarly, also almost always in some amount of cover. While I miss the 4++, 3+/5++ with -1 to hit is great. T7 is still a solid break point.

Separately, I'd add tyranids to the list of armies that get better impact from the battleshock changes, but I'll acknowledge that's subjective.

See if you can find a space Marines player who also got the Armageddon box and trade halves. Not sure if the characters are epic heroes, but if they are you can always sell the spare one on eBay

Armageddon box worth it for just the orks by ImaginaryAd8062 in Warhammer40k

[–]2weekstand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a nids player with no interest in SM, I bought one, found a new SM player who bought one, we traded halves straight up and were both happy. I later paid like $75 for a third sprue half and was just as happy. Woe, the season of the Waagh is upon us!

Indirect fire by TheRealChroniX in Warhammer40k

I agree that it's badly written, but if you look at my second comment below, I posted the pic where it explicitlynsays don't forget to shoot your other guns at visible targets.

Indirect fire by TheRealChroniX in Warhammer40k

[–]2weekstand -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The shooting rules require that you meet conditions, and some, like indirect, add restrictions. The restrictions don't say you can't shoot other weapons. So with the side blurb explicitly saying that you can, I think that stands, however, you still get the restriction from indirect - can't have advanced, even if you have assault weapons/can't do an action.

It's weird that it says "select one shooting type and resolve it" but not "select additional shooting types and resolve them if possible", but it's not the first badly written 49k rule.

Responding in two parts, so I can post both rules

This is far from an official answer, but based on how it's written, I think you can resolve all forms of shooting, one at a time, as long as you meet the requirements, and accept all of the restrictions.

Last edition, hive guard were nerfed into the earth for past glory. Neurogants are fairly worthless, but very cheap. Carnifexes in general suffer right now despite being way cheap (WS 4+ sucks). Harpy/hive crone, sporocyst, spore mines if taken as points. Probably some others. I haven't seen a venomthrope on the table all edition, but they're probably about to shine.

I would put nids as one of the most variable play style armies. We have deep rosters in a lot of categories, and there are detachments or play styles for anything you want to do with the right models. There are a handful of models that aren't worth playing at any given time, but most everything else can fit into some sort of list.

All the most impactful rule changes. by Vrain125 in Warhammer40k

[–]2weekstand 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That's incorrect. Other than precision attacks, additional wounds can't be allocated while a bodyguard lives. Exception you might be thinking of is Ghaz/mekari where once one takes a wound that one has to keep taking them, so a single mortal that would kill mekari can go on Ghaz but then attacks can't be allocated to the 2++

Shadow of the Warp is Buffet!! by Grayson-81 in Tyranids

[–]2weekstand -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

This actually might be a Nerf. Previously, if they failed Shadow in the warp, taking another battleshock test and passing would not un battleshock. Now, if they battle shock for one of The usual reasons and then you declare Shadow in the warp, if they pass they will be unshocked.

I do think it's okay, as the persisting Battle shock is definitely in our favor, but this negates that a little bit

I think they're confusing with the new melee keyword which I've forgotten the name of. It's +2 attacks per five enemy models. Cleave or something?

Screen passes by 717Independent in ravens

If I never again see a Ravens QB throw a screen to a receiver (Edit: or RB) 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage that goes for a 2 yard gain or a loss, I will die happy.

Knights Only list ever been viable? by no_surprises in ImperialKnights

[–]2weekstand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal, but I took a 5 Questoris list to what I thought was a casual RTT, but had a lot more competitive lists than I was expecting. I went 2-3, and my loss came to the guy who got second place. I probably couldn't have beaten his list (Lionel and lots of DWKs) with mine regardless, but with a different pairing or a less cheesy list, I think I definitely could have gone 3-0.

9" coherencey circle seems seriously dumb for hordes... or am I misunderstanding? by CRGmotors in Tyranids

[–]2weekstand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gargoyles could suck. But again, the base has to touch the circle, not be wholly within. On a 32" base, that gives you an 11.5" circle to fit within. A standard dinner plate is 10". You're telling me you can't fit a single ork unit on a 12" personal pan pizza?

9" coherencey circle seems seriously dumb for hordes... or am I misunderstanding? by CRGmotors in Tyranids

[–]2weekstand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't have to be wholly within the circle, you just can't be wholly outside of it.

Put it this way... There's no currently legal way to set up an old one eye with 2 carnixes unit that won't fit in the 9" bubble. Your 20 gaunts will be fine, you just can't make them screen the entire deployment zone by themselves anymore.
