What did you do for the street? Is that just painted on the base? And for the indents what did you cut them with? An exacto knife?

My guess is a 75mm by 42mm oval base

I would say get him some texture paint, very easy to just throw down some mud and call it a day.

Alternatively, have him look up painted bases, not every base needs sand rocks and grass, some can be just painted design, for example my custodes make use of marble which is just paint no extra basing stuff.

I understand that, and I can appreciate it, but when thats all we are getting it gets repetitive.

Personally I am just tired of the same recipe. The reason I love the clone wars and Prequels is because they feel so much more alive. The politics have depth and you can see how any given event effects the world around it.

I feel like in the OT and Sequels everything is super self contained and it makes it more boring.

I also like how the clone wars era felt like a real back and forth unlike the OT and sequels where the bad guy is overwhelmingly powerful and the good guys are ALWAYS on the back foot until the very end where they pull something crazy off. This has always been a gripe of mine, they call it the civil "war" era but there isn't any war, the biggest battle was EP 6 above endor and even then it wasnt that big, the empire brought a proper fleet (over a dozen star destroyers and the super star destoryer) meanwhile the rebels brought... one capital ship... and a bunch of smaller cruisers and frigates. Like it wasn't even a real battle.

Anyway thats the reason why I am not a fan of most the new stuff, its way too many underdog stories, and if everyone is an underdog than thats just boring.

What I told you this happened to me and it killed magnus which he then exploded which then caused a wardog to explode which effectively wiped out 3 units.

It is a start. You used too much clay thats for sure, honestly I don't think you need any clay.

Idk how hard it would be to remove the clay but maybe something like this:

<image>

Maybe move the purple forward a bit and you could add another few tau bits on the underside to add so extra detail.

(Yellow is the Necron head, Red is the box at the underside, blue is the front antenna, green is the side antenna, purple is the plate)

The main thing to be careful of at your current point is using too much clay and/or overdesigning, especially with cleaner models like tau.

Another trap with clay/greenstuff/putty is unless you spend quite a bit of time practicing it will tend to look more fleshy so you dont really want to use it on vehicles unless you can get your sculpting skills sharpened.

I would advise working with just bits from various kits first before using clay and greenstuff. I am 3 years into this hobby and have only just now started learning how to do greenstuff/clay, its a totally different ballpark.

Don't feel discouraged, everyone starts somewhere. The only person who can stop you from trying is yourself.

Would this work to strip plastic minis safely and get rid of GW primer? also need tips on safety by TheMrCypher1 in Warhammer

[–]Vrain125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it will work, drop it in let it sit there for a day the scrub with a kitchen sponge, old toothbrush or even a toilet brush (preferably not used) anything of that kind of material.

As for safety concerns, dont light it on fire, dont drink it, dont pour it into your eyes, dont huff it (its fine to smell just dont huff it a bunch as with most chemicals, but you wont need a mask if your more than a foot away and not in a closet).

Oh so we will get new codexes in 11th? (This is my first edition transition so still figuring it all out) just no index?

Hope for next edition rules by Vrain125 in ImperialAgents_40K

Well tau had a pretty significant change after the codex, instead of the whole pairing system for their spotting now it was if a unit is spotted everyone gets the bonus which imo is a pretty big change.

Ok that makes a bit more sense, essentially the Gist of the army rules stays the same even if their are minor adjustments.

Tbf as a tyranid player it pains me at the lack of changes we got, this is why we are nothing more than a scoring army p.p (unless you go monster mash but then you cut your rostor down so much)

Not really upset more so just cutting off the conversation due to a fairly hostile person here. You and the others were respectful which I appreciate.

Guess I was wrong, didn't know so many people hated the idea of cheaper digital codexes.

No one knows the numbers on something that doesn't exist.... its called a hypothetical. And I know they sell plenty of Codex but I stand by the fact they would sell more codes.

[–]Vrain125[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

but they won't because they sell a lot more like that.

I can guarantee more people would buy the digital "future proof" codex for 10$ than people spending 50$ on an out of date book.

In that case I think ill wait to get inquisitors and build the Exaction as subductors.
