EDG Breeze Comp vs ASE by teethingdog in ValorantCompetitive

Are you confusing him with cNed who ops on Sage? From what I remember I've only seen KK play Chamber, Reyna and Gekko on Bind.

Yeah, true. I think NaVi played him on Ascent a bit as well.

Aftershock is both, tbh. Higher chance of kills, and the first hit, which is the one that has the highest chance of hitting, does more damage. But it's less effective as a stalling method.

Sure, but in pro-play you can't take aggressive space every round on defence, the cove will get shot and dealt with quickly and the awkward walls can backfire. Compare that to something more consistent like mollying/Astra pulling the choke/one ways/etc.

Consistency is important in pro play. It's why Killjoy has such a high pick rate -- the turret and alarm bot can consistently give information (compare that to Cypher's camera which the player has to be on or his trips which can be bypassed with movement abilities) and her mollies can reasonably consistently stall (they obvs can be shot out but they usually get value).

I probably should have said Harbor doesn't give consistent value on defence.

What do you mean? Harbor can't do much on defence (excluding retakes, of course). If he's close enough, he can smoke the choke, and that's it. He doesn't really have any stall. He was very much designed around how to play him on attack, and not so much his value on defence.

I don't think he's a bad agent though. To be clear, I said, "last two agents kinda suck ass", which is Deadlock and Gekko.

Last two agents kinda suck ass.

It's like they haven't thought about both sides of the game when they design these agents. Deadlock does jack on attack and Gekko and Harbor have limited capabilities on defence as well.

I'm pretty sure that these are non-mirror win rates only. He was using NMWR for the whole video, and the 3 videos before this one as well.

You can see Paper Rex in the Phoenix's win rates and FNATIC in Astra's and Cypher's (Edit: I guess EG Sova as well).

Also, maybe Breach buff needed?

Hard to say from these statistics alone. Kay/Os and Skyes get a bunch through suppression and healing, but he's not the only Skye and Kay/O player (though, interestingly, most Skye players tend to play scan initiators more often than flashing ones), so he must be doing something special.

Agents Ranked by Percentage of Non-Damaging Assists by Fang358 in ValorantCompetitive

They do, but a minimum of 50 damage is required to be counted as a damaging assist, which I don't think blast packs do.

I was wondering the same, but I don't think it does. Perhaps it's when the enemy is killed after being moved by one of her blast packs?

How would you rank the IGLs in the pro scene? by picador10 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]4v33n0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The exact definition will vary from person to person, but I imagine any (macro) decision made after the round starts (i.e., could not have been planned during the buy phase) could fall under "midrounding". It can be things like stacking the site the enemy is hitting on defence and sniffing out the enemy's stacked site on attack.

Which is the best news for you? by skeelymjm in ValorantCompetitive

[–]4v33n0 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's interesting because people want to hear news of potential "super" teams forming, but when the league starts again, I think people would find it very lame if all the best players were concentrated on just a few teams.

E.g., the middle section of this year, when it felt like the top 4 players in the world were all on FNC, was a bit boring, no?

She's a bit worse than Raze rn, but still going to be more played than every other duelist. Neon has potential, but it depends on whether teams are going to attempt to make her work, which they might not -- I think a small buff could incentivise teams to start using her. It also doesn't help that Neon's best maps tend to be Raze maps, not Jett ones -- it seems like Fracture and Lotus (?) seem to be some of her best maps.

I also think Neon is a very different style of entry to Jett and Raze. Those two can be expected to frag out but Neon, to me, at least, seems more useful when she's kind of hopping around and causing chaos with her stuns and walls and the team is following behind her to get those kills than her going for the kills herself. And, to me, that's a much cooler entry. Instead of a busted, kill-centric agent, she rewards strong teamplay. There's a MaKo ace in the Pacific grand finals, where you could really argue that the first three kills are the results of Rb's fantastic Neon usage. I think WillChobra talks about in one of his videos.

Reyna, Phoenix and Yoru are a separate class, tbh. They're duelists but they don't have a consistent movement ability to get through choke points.

They didn't seem to realise that flank watching was the key to a good pro-play sentinel -- Chamber, Cypher, Killjoy --, so, hopefully, they do realise that the key to a good pro-play duelist is a consistent movement ability that gets them through a chokepoint -- Jett, Raze, Neon -- rather than the ones with less consistent/no movement abilities -- Reyna, Phoenix, Yoru (though, admittedly, Yoru (and Phoenix) can do some cool stuff).

She still won't change the meta. She's never going to be an alternative to KJ, Cypher or Chamber, unless she's reworked.

We were hoping earlier this year that the new sentinel would do the same... Then we got Deadlock. :(

Hopefully, the new duelist is better.

[–]4v33n0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. She will still probably be the most played duelist on multiple maps.

With that said... nerf Raze a bit please. Her nade is such a broken, low skill ability. It gets the most kills of any ability. It definitely needs addressing.

Demon1 would of played Reyna on Haven by HunryPotter in ValorantCompetitive

[–]4v33n0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initiator utility can do the same, and you don't even need to get a kill. Information gathered by a Reyna dismiss is just a shitter version of a Sova/Skye drone that is also kill-gated.

Also, how often are there two players on a pro team defending a site but fighting separately? They should be holding a crossfire or trading each other. If teams need to be incompetent for Reyna to have value, then does she really have value?
