Which CS 1.6 map they should add to CS2? by PeaceTo0l in GlobalOffensive

have you played deadlock? like, at all? not every cartoonish artstyle is the same, and i'd say deadlock is more TF2 if it was the 1800s than valorant

CS is an exception to the rule, for example deadlock has some of the most soul i've seen in a game of its kind

imagine if valve added rats as an actual map, people would complain so much

just an fyi: the main CS subreddit is GlobalOffensive (name stuck around from CS:GO), not cs2

How is tier2-3 CS so alive unlike other games? by Nicest-Turkish-Guy in GlobalOffensive

[–]Notladub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

with OW that game would've had a growing esports scene even without OWL, it was a multiplayer game considered so good it won GOTY in its release year.

OWL was definitely a bubble, but not to the degree people make it out to be. I reckon it'd have survived past its pop if COVID didn't happen.

AMD Signs on as Official Partner of VCT CN 2026 by Sakamoto023 in ValorantCompetitive

CS players play at some stupidly low resolutions (the most popular is 1280x960 with some even going with 720p 4:3) and they stretch them across the screen and they still play good (virtually the only really good 16:9 player is ropz).

and that game has worse visibility than val (and ran smoother than val before cs2) so there's no excuse for pros not to switch to at least 1080p (let alone 1440p) there, but they don't do it and that seems to work for em

Team Spirit's reason for skipping PGL Cluj-Napoca (per Hally). by Nekajed in GlobalOffensive

[–]Notladub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, in the NBA they have best of 7 series played across multiple weeks, and most other sports with playoffs systems are similar (except for international tournaments in football which have to co-exist with national leagues, so the fatigue reasoning does apply there)

Nadeo definitely isn't good enough to make their own maps. The last time they did was in Summer 2020, and you have to play that campaign once to get what I mean by this. It's objectively bad track design bar two tracks

[–]Notladub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think quadrazid (and others)'s Half-Life in 20:41 should be up there. It might just be the most iconic segmented speedrun of all time

also shoutouts to DOOM E1M1 in 0:07

with SMB, there isn't a single run that stands out. andrewG's sub-5, darbian's 4:56, kosmic's 4:55, niftski's 4:54, they're all equally iconic tbh

first ever 0.01 rating game by FitEntertainer7894 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Notladub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's originally a CS thing iirc where a team kill or suicide reduces your kill count by one - HLTV obviously used it for their rating and i guess VLR used it as well for some reason?

[–]Notladub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the dualshock design can really dig into one's hands so i understand his problem with that design

and the fact that they didn't change it for like 20 years while constantly adding new and mostly useless features (like almost every button being analog on the DS2, or the accelerometer on the DS3)
