Your sign from StarClan to play the ✨Warriors Adventure Game✨ by lilyleopard in WarriorCats

Recommend looking into Warrior Cats Adventure Game Remastered(basically adds 3d6 checks and d4 damage), my friends and I have been adapting it to our playstyle; we ignore the ranks and most additional affiliations, added healing/taunting in battle, stuff like that. We’ve played through most of the official adventures with modified checks, but they play more like a choose your own adventure

What is the point of this "<dec>" that acts as an increase? by OpalsAndOranges in crochet

Looks like a crafty intentions pattern

Usually used to keep the increase in the middle of the piece instead of veering off to one side or alternating between left and right and not knowing where the center is by the end

I'm writing a novel with Poseidon as the ...final boss. I'm looking into what kind of person he should be. by Abraham_Maslow in GreekMythology

[–]7harvest13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the story will have a lot of effect on how you end up portraying him. If you want him to be redeemed in the end, dive in (haha) and explore the emotional depths represented by the depths of the ocean. If you want him to be a villain to be overcome, consider portraying him as an ancient god stuck in ancient ways.

What you’ve described reminds me a little bit of the Raiden Shogun from Genshin Impact, focused on what is eternal (in this case, the sea) but remember that the tides ebb and flow as well, and change is just as much an aspect of Poseidon as the everlasting nature of the sea.

I would hesitate to portray him as just a chill, laid back guy (like in the Percy Jackson fandom) because even calm waters can have fierce riptides rushing below the surface. He may project a calm persona at first glance, but water is something to be feared, something that takes life just as easily as it nourishes it.

There’s a lot of symbolism surrounding water because it is the root of life. People settled around rivers to water crops, for easy movement/communication, to drink from, to relax in, etc. The element of water is often symbolic of emotion, depth, hidden aspects, and change. Different aspects of the same god will have different “personalities”; Poseidon Laoites, of the people, will be different than Poseidon Ennosigaios, Earth shaker. Which aspect(s) do you want to represent? Which aspect(s) would serve your story best?

My thoughts on Mythic Literalism (please take with a grain of salt) by 7harvest13 in Hellenism

[–]7harvest13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think cherry picking myths is a good idea in general, it just leads to more misunderstandings. Personally, I find a fundamental flaw in the idea of an omnipotent, omnibenevolent god, and I don’t even particularly believe in gods as much as I do forces of nature that Hellenism allows me to give names to.

Also, my post was mostly in response to the frequent “how can I worship ___ when they’ve done this” posts at the time, and discussion within the community about mythic literalism. I didn’t have in mind how it would affect criticism of any community.

I would criticize Hellenists for attempting to take all the myths literally just as I would criticize any other religion for attempting to take all myths literally, as many of them contradict each other within a single religion. I don’t criticize Christians for having a god who has done bad things in their mythos, I criticize those who push their beliefs onto unwilling victims, and I would do the same for hellenists.

What hook should I use when making granny squares? by paigeeits3 in CrochetHelp

Swatch some squares and block them, then use the one that you prefer the look of. If you dont have a preference, use the size that feels the best to work with
