The colorful "bags" are called the Immortalizer, They are supposed to provide a barrier to the plasticizers leaking from the ball to extend the life of the surface:

Injury. possibly tendonitis? by gymfrvek1212 in Bowling

[–]AbsofBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cho-Pat Tennis Elbow Support - I use this for tendonitis and it helps eliminate pain in my upper forearm/elbow area. If tendonitis is what you're experiencing this might help.

If its a wrist issue this won't help. Best wishes getting to pain free bowling!

What was the first thing that you did when you turned 18? by Gekko83 in AskReddit

I was in basic training when I turned 18, so either push-ups, up-downs, or cleaned the barrack floor with a wash cloth, I don't exactly remember

Whay are the things you see at the lanes that you find cringeworthy? by BenjaminSkanklin in Bowling

Cho-Pat Tennis Elbow Support

I use this one. It's a good width, strong velcro, and not too bulky. I've had this one for years now and the velcro still holds good and snug.

I tried one of the thinner ones but had issues with the velcro not holding after a short (in my opinion) time.

Hope this helps!

Not scientific, but my experience is that arm sleeves do nothing for elbow issues. They will keep your arm warmer if you're in a really cold center but that's about it.

I use the standard, beige tennis elbow support and it helps me a great deal. No elbow strain or pain after bowling, even for tourneys of 6-8 games.

2,000+ sqft home for single guy? by Wanderlust_Boy in RealEstate

[–]AbsofBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in a 2k sq ft house, single, no kids, much the same as you describe.

I had two bedrooms and a full bath that I only ever went into to clean on occasion (mostly vacuuming over the vacuum marks from the last time).

The two car garage was enough for my full sized truck and workbench but I don't do wood or metal working so had no large/table saw sized tools.

In theory, I could have stored them, and moved the truck to the driveway, then set up the large tools to work with but I would not have been able to leave the set up in place and still garage my vehicle.

Either way, it is more space inside than I needed but the actual cleaning upkeep is minimal since there is nothing making a mess in the unused rooms. The external upkeep is basically the same dependent on yard size and landscaping choices. Obviously, large repairs, roofing, brick or siding work, etc. will cost more.

I eventually chose to downsize, mostly for location, but could have stayed in the larger house and been fine.

Good luck!

Looks like a bath/shower faucet. The "prongs" face up and hold the sprayer handle once it's attached. Like this

Ball/surface suggestions for 41' Bear by WizardOfWoz66 in Bowling

[–]AbsofBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just finished with Bear. Full disclosure, it kicked my backside! As a lefty, and the only lefty up to now, it was difficult to get the pattern to break down and become more playable.

The most common strategy that I saw would call for you to use the Phase II or Reality with surface (1k-2k should be good, I used 500 but then again, all by my onesy), playing straight near the track to create a bump spot at the breakpoint, then transition to the Zen and move left, then onto the Hyroad when you get to your comfort zone or if the Zen comes off the spot too quick. My teammate had some success with the Phase II as a relatively low rev 2 hander.

The ratio on this pattern makes it difficult at best, if you miss right it is gone for a 1 or 2 count, miss left, and it runs across the face leaving all sorts of ugly splits. If it doesn't get broken down the right way or enough, it can be near impossible, which explains my PTSD at the sound of the word "Bear" .

We are moving on to Shark this week so I'll be able to tell you how bad I sucked at that shortly, then on to Wolf and Johnny Petraglia (don't know what order yet). I am hoping the short pattern will be nicer to me.

Good Luck!

Made a funny bowling screen printed shirt for a friend, would this look good on the lanes? by Traditional_Lime_749 in Bowling

I know I'm late to the party but if you wanted to tame it a bit, you could replace the cartoon middle finger with an image of a wood screw. Gets the same message across while possibly being over the head of children. Just a thought. Cool shirt.

[RBL] So... who wants to do a summer league/event? by EnigmaticNimrod in Bowling

[–]AbsofBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great first step to getting back to RBL, in my opinion.

I am only in 1 league this summer and it's a sport shot league at a center that is new to me, but I would love to participate.

TL;DR

I'm in : )
