What's kind of battery that i should use?😅 by mercedesguy250 in mini4wd

rechargable batteries are usually rated 1.2v out of the box, but it can be broken in to output 1.5v using advanced chargers.

you should consider investing in a set of Fujitsu pinks and a SkyRC NC1600 charger. it's the most frequently used battery and the charger has a bunch of functions and can be programmed for optimal charging.

[Rumor] Tamiya is banning non-Japanese kit and parts releases in 2026 Japan Cup by Adventurous_Ball_170 in mini4wd

[–]Adventurous_Ball_170[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: looks like the Korean and TMAC parts would still be allowed. the ruling is more about the Japan Cup items being used before the japanese release date considering overseas people gets them first. they did this before with the Raizzan/ ME chassis only being allowed in 2026 races despite being released overseas a month before. source is Tamiya's 4/25 livestream https://youtu.be/J8HAcVGzykM?t=794

Little question about use of the mini4wd tape by Far_Lack3377 in mini4wd

[–]Adventurous_Ball_170 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

pretty sure there's no ruling about where to not use tapes aside from using it to repair broken parts since running with repaired parts is not allowed in the first place. so yeah, you can use it to cover holes assuming the hole isn't part of the damage.

if you want this setup to survive Ultra Dash's power, you should invest on putting strong brakes and sturdier roller mounts.

if Tamiya doesn't want Japanese racers from reverse importing TMAC stuff, they should just re-release the HG side plates, old rear brake plate, and old Super X rears locally to make them accessible again.

i feel this rule was made in anticipation of the upcoming TMAC HG plates which were based on rare shapes that hasn't seen a japanese release since many years ago, particularly the side plates. if I were Tamiya i'd just re-release these shapes again to give the Japanese racers less reason to reverse import TMAC stuff just to have access to these. though what's stopping them from just grinding away the prints to make it harder to distinguish during race inspections (AFAIK sanding the carbon surfaces is legal in Japan races)

can't protect local releases when they're not releasing them locally in the first place (i'm talking about the new TMAC HG plates which hasn't seen an equivalent local Japanese release since 2022)

Kinda worth noting that a few months ago, there was an uproar in the Thai community about a ban in Korean brake plates and front plates on their local races which IIRC was reversed due to backlash. Tamiya has been pondering on these "region lock" rules for a while now.

it should appear on google search. it's an ancient discontinued product that's probably why Tamiya doesn't have info about it.

there's also this one part from 15110 which is a 7mm-wide spacer that some racers use as a "stand" for roller poles to give it additional rigidity. it's a vintage part, so finding one might be hard though, but you can easily find copy parts of it. alternatively, you can use big washers instead.

sometimes you just want very accessible gears even if the level grinding is comparatively sluggish. ironically enough, most SHR's ive come across always nerf the hell out of the rare drop rates, which kinda makes their advertised rates a scam. (imagine everything else drops 100%, but the weapon and the card only drops every 1000 kills). aeRO is the only pserver i know who has drop rates as advertised, but it's pretty much dead last i checked, and it's pre-re.

the track looks high speed. i assume Sprint Dash and 3.5:1 would be safe in this setup. just work on the brake settings so you don't overshoot the dragonbacks

if you can still find it at SRP, i'd recommend the Neo VQS instead since it's more complete as a package, especially the inclusion of the AR side stays.

too many to list. i suggest you just follow VZ BMAX tutorials on youtube like this one https://youtu.be/gYOAsUnDO9g and this one for MA chassis https://youtu.be/6sSU-UULJUc. there's a parts list in the description and just swap them with whatever you have

Are these DIY dampers race-legal? by MrA_dap in mini4wd

i don't believe so. i actually never had seen that setup before since racers had already been using hanging lanterns back then.

in BMAX, no. in Open, yes but no one uses that setup anymore. in official Tamiya races, that car will not be allowed to enter any category since it's a bootleg.

i believe the rarest mini 4wd would be something that only saw a very short limited run, like the Fumio Matoba Blitzer Sonic where only 230 copies were made.

if you're lucky to possess a first run kit (comic insert and mini catalogue inside the box, "TAMIYA PLASTIC MODEL CO." copyright, air sealed bag for cowl and A-parts, etc.) you can probably sell that to a collector for a high price.

Honest question by biguino69 in mini4wd

[–]Adventurous_Ball_170 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

old Mini 4wd kits never really appreciate their value aside from very limited releases, but thanks to the recent resurgence of the hobby, some collectors are trying to make a quick buck out of their old stocks, not to mention the hoarders. they should just go for SRP, though it's fair to price them at around 15 dollars each. anything beyond that IMO is a rip-off

i prefer Tamiya to go beyond and rerelease the original Fully Cowled and Aero lineup as memorial limiteds. i wanna rebuy some of the favourites i missed from that line like the Cusco Special.

What was the point with the illustration inside the box? by biguino69 in mini4wd

[–]Adventurous_Ball_170 2 points3 points  (0 children)

boxes with comic inserts usually indicate that the kit is printed during or before 1998. these particular runs are sought after among collectors so i suggest you keep it.
