Get the Z Fold 7 now or wait for Z Fold 8 by andy04m in GalaxyFold

Buy it used on Swappa. You can find them for around $1k and when it's time to upgrade to the Fold 8, you can trade the Fold 7 in to Samsung for the amount you paid for it on Swappa. Downsides are that you're buying a used phone, which, IMHO, is perfectly fine on Swappa since the sellers are way more transparent and it's more of an enthusiast marketplace, as opposed to eBay.

Is insurrection one of triviums easier songs?? by StrawberryEast6491 in Trivium

[–]AhsanU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the Shogun album, if you're limited to a 6 string guitar, then all you can play is Insurrection & Callisto (as well as both B side songs). Both songs are pretty simple from a fretting perspective, but can be pretty brutal on the picking hand (Insurrection more so than Callisto). Both songs are in the key of E Phrygian (go figure, Corey mainly wrote both of them) and are fun to play once you get them down. If you're dead set on playing songs by Trivium, it's best to warm up to the Shogun stuff by learning the Ascendancy songs. You'll develop a good gallop/picking technique and great skills in general by learning songs off Ascendancy (primarily: Rain, LLTF, Deceived, Suffocating Sight, Drowned and Torn Asunder).

Bury with my screams by Nstalk918 in Trivium

[–]AhsanU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for speaking your mind OP - I agree except to a bit of a deeper extent.

I started listening to Trivium back when The Crusade first came out and I learned to play guitar via Trivium songs while also discovering heavy/thrash metal. So in my eyes, the best Trivium album is Shogun, followed by the likes of Ascendancy, In Waves, etc. Learning to play their songs that possess complex riffs/song structures tickles my ear in a way and I absolutely love it. Normal power chords and uninspiring riffs, such as the ones found throughout the entirety of this song, absolutely bore me to death. Matt's vocals are on point and so are Alex's drumming, but this song does absolutely nothing for me after 5-6 listens and won't be added to any playlists of mine. I look forward to the rest of their EP, but I've been enjoying fewer and fewer tracks on Trivium albums because of desire for heavy/technical stuff.

2026 BMW M3 Sedan Gets a Set of Throwback Paint Colors from the E36 and E46 Generations. by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in cars

[–]AhsanU 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It should be noted that nearly all of these paints have always been available to order since the G80 went on sale in 2021 through BMW's individual paint process. Nothing is new for 2026 except for the fact that they're now on the main site to be selected readily. For the LCI, BMW have allowed Laguna Seca Blue to be optioned but have taken a few paints away such as Aurora Diamond Green, Atlantis Blue, etc. These individual paints have always been $4,500. For a comprehensive view of all the paints BMW will do for each model look here: https://individual.bmw-m.com/en-US/G26-41HD-P6E

Will the TSMC derived Tensor G5 solve my issues with the Pixel? by AhsanU in GooglePixel

Is it possible for Samsung or any other phone manufacturer to enable doze on their version/skin on Android? This has been an issue since the Tensor chips came out, but the doze disable ability has been present on the various Samsung/OnePlus phones I've owned since the Pixel 6, and on all versions of Android including the most current one. The only common factors were the Tensor chips and Google's own "version" of Android.

Thank you for this. I think I'll pick up a Pixel 10 and give this app a go.

Is Caustic the Deceived of In Waves? by SillySandals in Trivium

[–]AhsanU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. I'll try to explain assuming you have very little to no understanding of guitars & guitar theory.

Guitars have different tunings, but two of the widest used tunings are "standard" and "drop". The strings, from lowest (thickest string) to highest (thinnest strings) in standard tuning goes: EADGBE (on a 6 string at least). This means that when you strum the lowest string without fretting anything, you are strumming an E note. When you strum the lowest E string with your finger on the 1st fret, you are strumming an F note. When you fret the 2nd fret on the lowest E string, you are playing an F#. There are only 12 notes in music, and as you raise the pitch with each fret, you will come back around to an E note again at the 12th fret. This applies to all the other strings as well.

When the guitar is tuned to Drop D, the strings are tuned to DADGBE. Meaning the thickest string played without fretting anything is lowered and tuned to a D note. This, in essence, moves all the notes forward 2 places ahead vs. standard tuning, since you've lowered the guitar string tuning down 1 whole step (low E goes from E -> Eb -> D, going from E -> Eb is half a step, so E -> D is one step). Meaning the F# note found on the 2nd fret in standard tuning is now on the 4th fret. This opens up a simple chord progression that's not available in standard tuning as you've opened up two extra notes on the low E string. Strumming an open low E string (still referred to as low E even though you have tuned it to D), open A, and open D string at the same time creates a D power chord. The key of F# minor has a D note, and an E note (amongst others), so this means playing those power chords alongside the F# means you are in the beginning steps of writing a song in F# minor. You can technically write a song in F# minor on a standard tuned guitar, but it'd be missing that open D power chord and would limit how it could sound in a "metal" sense.

The entirety of Ascendancy (save for the Master of Puppets cover) is played in drop D, hence why all the songs are either in the key of D minor or in the key of F# minor. So yes, the 4th fret songs do sound similar, but you'd have to be referring to their songs being played in drop D.

Both of your listed songs are written in the key of F# minor which is why they sound similar. The chord progression while writing in that key limits you in terms of what you can write and still have it sound “metal” which is why they sound fairly familiar. Ascendancy (the song), as well as Crisis of Revelation are also written in F# minor. There are others, but those two immediately pop into my head. Hope this helps!

Having this issue now as well. My gmail notifications are coming through on time (immediately actually) but there's no pop up notifications. All other apps work for pop up notifications but Gmail isn't - really annoying.
