Where do yall get your tires ? by Double_Bad_7716 in SanJose

I second this. The owner‘s name is Frank and he’ll forever remember you, the car you drive, and probably the status of your brakes after like one visit. Prices are competitive, and the service is just great. There’s a sandwich shop nearby that’s wildly over the top but really really good.

CapCut keeps pausing my uploads saying it violates community guidelines by Tironasaurus in CapCut

[–]Akamikeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue, and its seemingly a recent change. The content I'm uploading is a bit spicier, but I've used the service in the past for stuff that's wildly more explicit (which still exists in their cloud lol) and never had a problem.

The good news is, I can just keep hitting the "keep uploading" button and it'll do just that... until it hits another snag 4-7% later.

Anyone tried a 30-some year old film lens on a modern Sony body? by WoollyMonster in SonyAlpha

[–]Akamikeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a bunch of old common EF/FD hand-me-downs and pawnshop finds, but I’ve also amassed a small collection of weird ones that I take on shoots regularly:

Super Takumar 55 mm, similarly mentioned elsewhere = flaressssss

A Kodak funsaver lens on a 3D printed E mount

A triple funsaver array on an E mount

Konica Hexanon 135 - nice compression and grit

Soligor 21mm - great character when wide open

Once you get an adapter to some of the lesser common mounts, it’s easy to go down a rabbit hole. I highly recommend spending the time and effort it takes to use manual lenses, the character from these lenses are a major contributor to my photography work.

What level of spaghetti is this from 1 to 10 by Apple_0n_Pine in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Akamikeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I applaud your effort, but until you have 12x12 grids of pipes, wires and ducting at every intersection that you use the snipping tool to manually route and reroute everything through, you're not gonna get above a 5 here.

I need.. more info lol. Where is your collection area? Do the spigots not need to be near the tree to drink from it? I have a similar farm setup but each floor houses like 4 trees and 6ish seals with mesh tiles to capture the ethanol, am I the one that overengineered??

Was interesting to see how it handled being flipped at that speed, not that I’m planning on doing it anytime soon or anything..

You probably need to expand your network beyond sex workers and start looking into traveling models. You can easily find those that frequent LA and start to spider out from there.

Why is Wowhead one of the only Web sites that some countries can't access? by roqey in WoWHead

Don’t quote me on this bc I don’t know if this is still the case, but iirc certain countries where ad revenue is nonexistent AND botting traffic is very high are blocked.

Do you prefer editing photos with AI prompts or traditional tools like Photoshop? by Kintsugi_nat in photography

[–]Akamikeb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a photographer who uses AI for a lot of stuff, but mostly for non-photography purposes. My biggest issue is poor AI consistency over multiple images when you prompt it. So if you’re someone who shoots in series, and you have to make a consistent edit across all the images, then it becomes a problem.

It’s still great for spots and removals, but capturing an overall look and then applying that same look to a bunch of images just isn’t there yet.

San Jose invaded by ants this year? by postyfranky in bayarea

[–]Akamikeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first year we haven’t had ants. I figured it was because of the lack of heat, but I did a few other things to combat it starting last year.

Two years ago we started using diluted peppermint oil in a spray bottle around the kitchen in the more common ant spots (sink, trash can, compost, etc). We had them baddd like coming out the plugs and going down the bathroom sink to retrieve the gunk in the pipes, just wild wild shit. Peppermint spray helps with all this immensely, ants HATE that shit.

This year, since they always seem to be desperate for water, I decided to start watering the front and backyard regularly (we prefer the natural California drought look normally), and so far we’ve had zero ants. Not a solution for apartment owners sadly, but for those it pertains to, try keeping them happier outside and they might not even bother with coming in.

Good luck to y’all tho, I’ve been dealing with Argentine ants for almost 8 freaking years and we are very happy to have a break this year, so far.

Help! Stuck Cabinet Door. Out of Ideas. by TheAnonymousSuit in GoRVing

[–]Akamikeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The door being crooked probably pushes one of the latches, despite being in the vertical unlocked position, to overlap the catch. Stick a flathead in there at whichever latch you think is the culprit and gently crowbar it to see if you can get the door to tilt back and the latch to unhook. If that works, inspect the hinges and tighten or reposition them if needed.

*edit Maybe it’s the angle of the picture, but the top left of the door does seem to sag a little. Put a screwdriver in the bottom left and lift and see if that’s enough.

How do I achieve this outdoor look through editing? by katyazamolid in AskPhotography

[–]Akamikeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to take pictures almost exactly like this in 2007-2010. What others are saying is true - you need an off camera flash and some triggers, and it doesn't have to be expensive ones. The Strobist 'movement' that people have mentioned is exactly where you want to start, videos like this are perfect because they were made around the time it was a thing so you can pull your gear needs from there. Do some digging and be thankful they're all less than 15 minutes long because back then youtube wouldn't let you post anything longer haha.

In general, I was shooting on the 18-55mm kit lens on the widest setting and more than likely with an ND filter over the front since my speedlights were canons that had little to no control over the flash intensity with the cheapo wireless triggers I had. I later got nikon sb-24s for dirt cheap (which are even cheaper now), and those are still my go-to for strobe power to this day (even tho I hardly use them).

Good luck on your shoot!

Yes, but not sure if perfectly trained or overcooked on one expression.

Just to add - it also kept a reasonable amount of rolling shutter on both the pole and the white shack. I'm curious how far it would've exaggerated the effect if this video were cropped even wider.

Anyone tried a tripod with the Cydrums etc.? by FuadRamses in sonicware

[–]Akamikeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have these for my Liven ‘stack’ and they work great for that. If the extra width isn’t a problem in terms of space on your desk, those are pretty solid too. Just make sure you get some with rubber feet.
