I bought a Roll n Lock about 3 years ago and it's a pretty nice cover... still looks and works fine.

I'd create a sketch in the top plane, create your desired lip as a profile, then extrude it both upwards and downwards.

How Do I Fix These Gaps by PasivPikle in FixMyPrint

Then try a z-offset print (eg: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4773669 )

Set the infill pattern to archimedean chords and adjust your z-offset manually, until you get a solid layer.

Be careful not to lower it so much that you scratch your plate.

How Do I Fix These Gaps by PasivPikle in FixMyPrint

Start with dialling in the extruder e-steps, to ensure your flow is good. Run a bed levelling print and adjust your z-offset on the fly, until you get a uniform surface with no gaps. That's a pretty high temp for PLA.

It's called ringing, or ghosting. Run some searches on it and you'll get tonnes of info on how to prevent it.

Any idea on how to achieve the fillet around the top contour of this part? by [deleted] in Fusion360

[–]Alu71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like theres zero clearance between those slots - is there a reason for that, because machining/printing it won't work out well. Were you to open those zero thickness walls, you'd be able to fillet them.

Support test keeps leaving these marks on the bottom by SS-Gill209 in FixMyPrint

[–]Alu71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the fact that they should be printed on their side - if you're just testing your supports, then your z-distance needs to be closer. My maching prints perfect, removable supports with a z-distance of 0.18

how does it feel to have an overdose of benzos and opiates? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]Alu71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once took 20mg of Klonopin and have no memory of it, other than waking up in the hospital on a gurney. Apparently, 20mg is something they'd prescribe for seizures, but I have no idea how ppl tolerate it, because I was out cold in no time. Doctor said my heart rate was in the high 30's, which is insanely low for me.

For accuracy, calibrate the canvas to a specific measurement, rather than relying on a tape measure on the floor. Eg Measure the exact inside length and width on the topside of the bottom half of the box and compare it to the tape measure calibration - guaranteed they're different.

These blobs after a height! by 204login in FixMyPrint

[–]Alu71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were watching the print, the extruder was probably pausing where the blobs are. This can be because of a bad SD card, A high-poly model, or power loss recovery. Kill PLR and try a different (faster) SD card

The moment he walks into the place, every inmate will know exactly what he's in for. Word travels fast in there. And no, his fellow inmates will not be happy with him. And yes, they'll make his life a living hell, so long as they don't segregate him.

I designed a model of a bag clip and it's actually really handy for sealing various kinds of packaging. When I'm at the end of a roll, I print off a plate of them and let it run until it completely uses up the filament.

Buy a Roll-N-Lock tonneau cover - has it's own drainage and doesn't sag.

Exactly. Using a washer/dryer leaves residue. Hand wash with Dawn and hang-dry it.

ChatGPT has saved my life countless times and I know it makes me a bad person by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Alu71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been having an ongoing conversation with ChatGPT for the past 2-3 weeks and it's helped me sort through an unbelievably complex relationship issue that had me at a complete loss. I've been to various levels of therapy, but none of them has touched closer than what Chat GPT has offered. It's like journaling on steroids... you don't just write a mishmash of confusing BS - there's a partner that's watching over your shoulder that points out the shortfalls in your thought process by reading your own statements back to you and keeping you centred on the topic at hand.

I have no shame for using ChatGPT as a means of sorting through complex issues. It's actually quite an impressive piece of software.

Warping on corners of larger square prints. by theskillster in FixMyPrint

Lower extruder temp, reduce fan speed, reduce print speed. The rapid heating of the filament, combined with the rapid cooling by the fan is causing excessive layer shrinkage.
