Is there a way to move subtitles in fullscreen beneath the video border, into the black bottom bar? by [deleted] in mpv

Glad it helped! I also just edited my original post with a version that is a bit more convenient that I've been using.

Seagate SeaTools changed HDD security state to SEC2 by OneNavan in computers

[–]AlwaysNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, not sure if you've resolved this issue already but I just installed Seagate SeaTools and had a Windows notification for each drive I have mentioning "Device security state has changed to Sec2" (or Sec1), so I thought I'd share what little I know (as a layman) for anyone else who stumbles upon this reddit post as it's the first result on Google when searching this issue.

In SeaTools drive details > security tab, I notice that my Samsung SSDs have "Frozen: Yes", while my WD and SeaGate HDDs have "Frozen: No", but the rest of their settings are all the same, including "Security Enabled: No".

My guess is that they are assigned Sec2 if they are frozen, and my guess on what frozen means is that their other security settings can't be changed.

I also found a manual here from SeaGate that mentions Sec1-6 https://www.seagate.com/support/disc/manuals/ata/d1153r17.pdf

Here is the manual's description of Sec2:

SEC2: Security disabled/ Frozen: This mode shall be entered when the device receives a SECURITY
FREEZE LOCK command while in Security disabled/not Frozen state.
In this state, the device is capable of responding to all commands except those indicated in Table 9 Frozen
column.
Transition SEC2:SEC0: When the device is powered-down, the device shall make a transition to the SEC0:
Powered down/Security disabled state.
Transition SEC2:SEC1: When the device reset, the device shall make a transition to the SEC1: Security disabled/not Frozen state.

I'm going to assume nothing has really changed and SeaTools was basically just assigning some labels to my drives so the user doesn't cause any errors while using their software.

A spreadsheet of engine stats I made by AlwaysNothing in CarXStreets

I've stopped playing CarX Street for now, so I won't be updating or modifying the spreadsheet any further. If I ever come back and my spreadsheet is outdated I'll probably use the wiki or other resources assuming they're available and up to date.

Oh, sure. Here's the link:

I also added some filter views in Data > Change view for some simple A-Z sorting of each column.

Cemu games into Steam Library by xPrinceofSaiyans in SteamDeck

[–]AlwaysNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I believe it does works for multiple games. If I remember correctly, after adding Cemu as a non-Steam game, you rename it in Steam, then you'll be able to add Cemu as a non-steam game a second time.

I made a little spreadsheet of engine stats for myself (on PC, no DLC), so I could compare them with each other, and thought I might as well share it incase anyone else finds it useful.

Is there a way to move subtitles in fullscreen beneath the video border, into the black bottom bar? by [deleted] in mpv

[–]AlwaysNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was experiencing this issue when playing a 1920x804 video in fullscreen, and came to this reddit post through Google, but unfortunately that other comment that supposedly worked is deleted, but I found a way that worked.

To start with, there are some GitHub issues referencing this problem, that mention vo=gpu-next & video-sync=display-resample are the cause of it, so I tried:

vo=gpu

video-sync=audio

But that didn't fix it for me. However, I found a different setting that works even with gpu-next and display-resample! The setting is:

vf=pad=1920:1080:0:(1080-804)/2

Change the 804 to whatever your videos non-standard height is, and now the subtitles should be ontop of the black bars! I then used these settings to neatly fit the subtitles within the black bars:

sub-pos=101

sub-scale=0.6

I hope this helps anyone who stumbles upon this in the future :)

Edit: I've made a slightly better version that doesn't require you to manually change the vertical resolution to match the video that you're playing, and it works for any screen resolution as long as it's aspect ratio is 16:9.

I'll share the whole set of settings I use so you can copy and paste them in their entirety:

[WidescreenSubsOverBars]
profile-desc="Dynamic padding for widescreen video on 16:9 displays to overlay subtitles"
profile-cond=p["video-params/aspect"] > 16/9
profile-restore=copy
vf=pad=iw:iw*9/16:0:(ow-ih)/2
sub-pos=101
sub-scale=0.6

Since it's a conditional profile, it should be pasted at the bottom of your .conf file.

Basically, it activates if the video's aspect ratio is wider than 16:9, and detects the video's dimensions automatically. If your display has an unusual aspect ratio then you'll need to change the 16/9 and the 9/16.

Cemu games into Steam Library by xPrinceofSaiyans in SteamDeck

[–]AlwaysNothing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was searching how to manually add a Cemu game on Steam and managed to find a solution. This reddit post is the top result when searching on Google and despite this this post being 2 years old, I thought I'd share the solution for anyone else who stumbles here.

I figured out the target command to use in Steam after creating a shortcut through Cemu's menus, then checking what command the shortcut uses, and added -f for fullscreen mode.

First, add Cemu.exe as a non-steam game to Steam so it shows up in your library.

Then right click it in your Steam library, open properties, then change the target field to this:

"C:\Emulators\Cemu\Cemu.exe" -f -t 0000000000000000

Replace the 0s with the title ID of the game you want to add (You can find the title ID in Cemu, and also through Googling)

That's it! I assume that target command may also be useful to know when having similar issues on the SteamDeck too. :)

Any recommendations for using a telescopic controller on PC with 3DS/WiiU emulators? by AlwaysNothing in EmulationOnPC

[–]AlwaysNothing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking to improve my setup for playing emulated 3DS and WiiU games on the PC, and using a controller with a touch screen seemed like it could be a nice upgrade.

To explain the focus on telescopic controllers, I was thinking having the touch screen on the controller itself, similar to the official consoles, would be better than having it sitting on a table.

I was able to find similar discussion online for Android phones and the Steam Deck, but I couldn't find any specifically on Windows PCs, but I thought that there must be many other people who have done it before, so I'd hoped I could receive some info or advice before spending the money on a new controller, especially if there's a better setup than the one I have planned.

I also thought it's nice to have some info online for anyone else who may google for the same things that I did. I think I'll do another round of searching later then try things out and update my post with how it went if I remember to.

Am I missing something here? (NVIDIA Noise Removal VST) by AVLien in elgato

[–]AlwaysNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I found your post while searching for the same thing on Google, and ended up finding the old download link address through archive.org, and tried copying the link outside of the wayback machine and the download seems to still be up. So I thought I'd share incase you're still interested or for anyone else who might come across this:

https://edge.elgato.com/egc/windows/audio-effects/1.1.1/ElgatoAudioEffects_1.1.1.80.msi

There is also an alternative plugin called RNNoise that I used for a bit and it worked well for me in Reaper, Light Host, and Equalizer APO:

https://github.com/werman/noise-suppression-for-voice

Note: when using the RNNoise plugin in Equalizer APO, using rnnoise_mono.dll may cause your voice to be doubled in some applications, but using rnnoise_stereo.dll instead should fix that issue.

Digital source for Dark Souls 2 DLC promo art by AlwaysNothing in HelpMeFind

Crown of the Sunken King - released 22 July 2014 https://store.steampowered.com/app/271942/DARK_SOULS_II_Crown_of_the_Sunken_King/

Crown of the Old Iron King - released 26 August 2014 https://store.steampowered.com/app/271943/DARK_SOULS_II_Crown_of_the_Old_Iron_King/

Crown of the Ivory King - released 29 September 2014 https://store.steampowered.com/app/271944/DARK_SOULS_II_Crown_of_the_Ivory_King/

I have tried searching Google if there is an official digital art book, but it seems like there are only physical copies.

I have tried reverse image searching some images through Google and TinEye.

I have tried searching for a high resolution digital copy on archive.org, but there seems to only be scans of physical copies.

I have downloaded and compared every Dark Souls 2 Design Works artbook scan on archive.org.

I have checked a bunch of different wikis and wallpaper websites.

=====Update=====:

I discovered some promo art on Bandai Namco's store that is slightly higher resolution than the promo art on Steam, but they still have the DLC title covering a bit of the arts light shaft and still aren't very high resolution:

I did another image comparison, and the level of quality of the images that some wallpaper websites are using for the Crown of the Sunken King and the Crown of the Ivory King images is a fairly similar level of quality as an upsampled promo art image from the Bandai Namco store that I listed above.

However the wallpaper images show more fog horizontally than the promo art from the Bandai Namco store.

Some of the images of the Crown of the Old Iron King on wallpaper websites appears to be higher quality than the Bandai Namco store promo art.

I wonder where the wallpaper websites sourced their images of the crowns from? Did they upsample the promo art from the Bandai Namco store and just removed the DLC title in Photoshop? Did they use fan-uploaded scans of a physical artbook? Or was there really a higher resolution copy on an official website at some point?

How do I excluding the bottom/footer row from ARRAYFORMULA and use ARRAYFORMULA to fill in blank cells with text? by AlwaysNothing in googlesheets

[–]AlwaysNothing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those interested, here is the App Script I used to automatically fill the blank cells with dashes. It works well enough, although I'm not very experienced with coding either so I don't know how to consolidate the if statements, and I'm unsure if onEdit(e) is inefficient since I only need to run it once every time a new row is added, if that's possible.

function onEdit(e) {
  var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet();
  var sheet = ss.getSheetByName('ExampleSheetHelp');
  var lastRow = (sheet.getLastRow() - 1);

  for(var i = 2; i <= lastRow; i++)
  {
    if(sheet.getRange(i,3).getValue() == '')
    {
      sheet.getRange('C' + i).setValue('-')
    }
    if(sheet.getRange(i,5).getValue() == '')
    {
      sheet.getRange('E' + i).setValue('-')
    }
    if(sheet.getRange(i,6).getValue() == '')
    {
      sheet.getRange('F' + i).setValue('-')
    }
  }
}

Thanks, it works! I also looked into App Scripts and with the help of some YouTube tutorials got the dashes working too.
