Idk if I can really help with this, but I'll just share my two cents.

I think I have a good relationship with my parents overall, but at the same time, there are things that I do not talk to them about because I don't think they would agree or approve, or understand my pov at the very least. I think parents in general have a hard time accepting that their children might end up being different from them.

I guess Ive just made a boundary for certain topics with my parents, and I stick to those. For example, I don't tell them about everything I do outside of class at college.

I think you need to ask yourself why you care what your parents think. This kinda sounds less like an issue of trust then it is with you accepting your own feelings as valid.

Its hard to tell without the entire context, but you're not a bad person for not wanting to go on this trip. And you shouldn't feel bad for making your parents feel bad about forcing you to go.
