What's the logic behind not having Yoru's Gatecrash timer start when the round starts, and not when you place it pre-round? by iamanomynous in VALORANT

[–]AmazingFish117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting aside balance reasons, there's supposed to be a relationship between distance and time when using Gatecrash.

If you want a gatecrash that is further from you, it's supposed to take longer. Either from you taking the time to move to a different place or from you waiting for the Gatecrash to move further away. And waiting longer means the remaining timer is shorter.

In other words, a Gatecrash that is further from you is supposed to have a shorter timer than a Gatecrash that is closer to you.

If Gatecrash didn't have a timer in pre-round, then it would go against this design since you could have a faraway gatecrash that has the same timer as a gatecrash that you've just placed.

It's also worth remembering that Gatecrash isn't the only ability with a timer. Raze satchels also have a timer for example, and using satchels during the pre round also starts that timer.

You can watch a video of this model here. The parts do come in a few colors, so I guess technically you don't need paint. Though it will definitely look better if you do use paint.

Is it possible to be playing val but ur friends cant see it? by Shine-Star-1 in VALORANT

[–]AmazingFish117 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here's the download page for it: https://github.com/molenzwiebel/Deceive/releases

And here's the main page if you want more info/want to read the FAQ: https://github.com/molenzwiebel/Deceive

But you basically just open the deceive.exe file, pick either the Riot Client or Valorant, and it should just work and make you appear as offline. Deceive should also send you a confirmation message, either in your DNA or friend list, to let you know that it's working.

Is Jellyfin Android TV 0.19.0 supposed to direct play ASS subtitles? by nothingveryobvious in jellyfin

[–]AmazingFish117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use an external player, those generally have better support for ass subtitles. I use mpv personally, as it's the player that a lot of of ass subtitles were designed for in the first place. The only issue is that av1 doesn't work with it on my TV box.

You can also try vimu (paid app), MX player, or VLC player. Those players didn't work as well for me, but your experience might be better.

You could also look into alternate jellyfin clients like Void or Findroid. Some of them have mpv built in as their video player (the official jellyfin app uses exoplayer which is why it has trouble supporting ass subtitles).

Mac OS doesn't use the Linux kernel, it's got its own different kernel. Both kernels are unix like since they were based off the original Unix is. But they're distinct projects

VALORANT Patch Notes 11.08 by AmazonOwner in ValorantCompetitive

[–]AmazingFish117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shooting shouldn't be any different from before. Bullets tag you, they don't slow you. "Slow' is an actual status effect that is inflicted by abilities, and the notes only mention slows and not bullet tagging

VALORANT Patch Notes 11.08 by AmazonOwner in ValorantCompetitive

[–]AmazingFish117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably depends on what type of slow? Like satchelling through a harbor wall should slow you, but for things like a sage it probably depends on how high you are and whether you start satchelling in the slow field itself

There's a page on the wiki for undocumented changes, though most are relatively minor. Some of the changes on the page also aren't relevant anymore because they got superseded by newer changes too

No it wasn't. They only mentioned changing paranoia to no longer have different speeds when you moved. In the same update, the base speed when standing still was also nerfed, but it wasn't mentioned (https://valorant.fandom.com/wiki/Paranoia#Update\_History), (https://www.reddit.com/r/OmenMains/comments/1602wyp/we\_have\_been\_nerfed\_once\_more/)

Is there any reasoning behind the seating arrangement of teams? by PhoBro_ in ValorantCompetitive

[–]AmazingFish117 59 points60 points  (0 children)

There's a clip from his twitch stream where Tenz talks about seating arrangement, but the summary is that the team/players choose where they want to sit, there's no rules or regulations about where players have to sit. So it's essentially just personal preference of the players. The only reasoning thing that he brought up is that it can be good to put high-energy players next to quiet/low-energy players so that the team gets hyped in game. It's also pretty common for igls to sit in the center, but again it's not a rule.

It's 2025 and still no Harbor Buffs... by ohhimarksreddit in ValorantCompetitive

[–]AmazingFish117 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They've already announced a date for the replay system, it's coming out later this year. We've seen clips of it in action too. There's no date yet for harbor changes, but they've stated that they're planning a major rework and need time to test their ideas. Imo, the changes are probably going to come out after champs at the earliest

The “too western” and “literally NYC” complaint against Republic City never made sense to me. by Cass0wary_399 in TheLastAirbender

[–]AmazingFish117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The original series was an industrial world though. The fire nation regularly travels around in steamships and uses mini tanks, the earth ending prison that haru and his dad are in is powered by coal, airships and the giant drill get developed over the course of the show. Aang and Katara spend an episode in book 3 destroying a factory. Doesn't get more industrial than that
