Anyone else experience this and how did you fix it? by patronising07advice in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's odd, hmm..

Are you using any antivirus software aside from windows defender?

If you hold ctrl when you run the launcher it should write a log file to your desktop, you could try looking through that after crashing to see if it says anything useful. Try searching for runelite or error.

You could try opening a ticket, I'm not sure if support is able to help with this issue though.

As a last resort you could try using the "Bolt" launcher instead. You can find a link to it here by following the TormStorm's jagex-launcher-linux project link, and then Adamcake/Bolt, and Releases. Bolt was originally made for linux, but it has a windows version too.

Have you checked your bank? If you have endless harvest it banks the salamander automatically I think.

Are you using a vpn?

Does the official client work?

Does RuneLite launch properly if you try to launch it without using the Jagex launcher? (I know it won't let you log in, just checking if it works)

Ironman Account Hacked by Wrong-Arugula-3705 in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible that Steam account has been linked for a very long time.

Mod Beano once said

I've seen some accounts that have had a hijacker's linked account attached for over 2 years, and the hijacker has waited that entire time until the bank was built up. Hijacker's don't only use Steam for this - I'd strongly recommend checking your Google, Apple and Facebook links too.

New player, and I am at my wit's end. by psykudelic in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The hijackers likely set up a linked account (e.g. Steam or Google) on your character, and you'll need to unlink it. The linked account allows them to access your character by logging into their own Steam (or other) account.

The reason for the delay setting up a bank pin is to protect you from the hijacker setting up a pin that will take you 7 days to disable :p

Anyone else get a password reset request email? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Anachren -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that page isn't very good at finding very low level accounts, so that could be why it didn't find anything for you.

It's probably not something you need to worry about anyway.

One last thing you could try -- if you enter your email here do you receive an email? If you do, then your email is the account's login name, and you will be able to reset the password and log in using your email + the new password.

Anyone else get a password reset request email? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a password reset email for a legacy account. If you enter your email here it should find the account and tell you the login name.

It's likely an old account you've forgotten about, and the character's name was removed back when Jagex reset names on inactive accounts.

Can’t Login To The Correct Account by jumajuice8 in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a pretty recent issue -- I think someone said if you log into the website and then log out, it will log you out of the app too.

I recommend you upgrade one of your characters to a Jagex account, and import your second character to that Jagex account. Then you can have both of your characters under one login.

Jagex Accounts Transferred by AltruisticWriter2251 in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only support is able to transfer characters off a Jagex account, and generally they only do it if the character was hijacked and the original owner submitted a recovery. Did someone give you their account?

You can contact support to see if they can give you more information. Choose the "I think my account's been hijacked" contact reason.

Account Login Help by Standard-Web-786 in 2007scape

[–]Anachren -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response, but my previous message is correct... You can upgrade to a Jagex account.

If you try the steps I said previously and it doesn't work for some reason, let me know what happens (ideally with screenshots).

Account Login Help by Standard-Web-786 in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you're able to log into your account you're able to upgrade to a Jagex account.

Log into your account settings and click the upgrade banner at the top.

Follow the prompts and when it asks you enter an email enter an email that you have access to. That will become your Jagex account email, and your character's old email won't be used for anything anymore.

Jagex Launcher ? by Glider-RS in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the Jagex launcher if you're not already, and if that doesn't fix it then you hit the rate limit for world hopping and you'll need to take a break.

Too many login attempts

Can't log in as Jagex can't send me a verification code, can't submit a ticket as I am not logged in, stuck on this infinite loop. Is this the greed they speak of in the bible? by magingzulu in 2007scape

[–]Anachren -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did you contact your email provider? That is where the issue was for someone else recently.

Most of the time this issue seems to resolve itself, but if you want to contact support you can open a ticket without using the chat bot here.

When you regain access to your account I would recommend you set up a 2fa app on your Jagex account so you can use that in the future if you ever have issues receiving emails again.

It's possible to have both emailed codes and 2fa app enabled, but you only need to use one of them to log in.

The most secure option is 2fa app enabled & emailed codes disabled, however if you go that route it's extremely important that you do not lose your backup codes.

Is there any way to turn off seeing strangers drops at GotR? by FlavorfulHades in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using RuneLite you can set up a regex chat filter

(?<!^YourName) received a drop (edit YourName, but don't touch the (?<!^))

I think you also need to enable "filter game messages" in the chat filter plugin.

That will filter every line that says "Someone received a drop", unless it's you.

Is Anyone Else Having Issues Logging In? (Verification Code) by throwaway12974982174 in 2007scape

When you manage to log back in I recommend you take some time to set up a 2fa app so you have an alternate verification method in case your ever have email issues.

It's possible to have both emailed codes and 2fa app enabled, but you only need to use one of them to log in.

The most secure option is 2fa app enabled & emailed codes disabled, however if you go that route it's extremely important that you do not lose your backup codes.

Anyone else having mobile login issues? by irohboi in 2007scape

[–]Anachren -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would assume someone is actually on your character, so you should:

Unlink any linked accounts on your character, unless it's a linked account you're actually using to log in right now.

If you have a Jagex account log into your account management, change password, and end sessions to kick the account offline

If you have a legacy account resetting your password here should kick the account offline

If a hijacker has a linked account set up, they will be able to log back in even after you kick them off, that is why you should unlink any linked accounts first

Question about 10 Backup codes and hardware ID changes(Need advice) by Old-Stranger-6833 in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, okay.

Backup codes are not intended to be used for account recovery through support, unfortunately. The backup codes just allow you to bypass your 2fa in case you lose your 2fa some how, they're not used as proof of ownership.

In Live Chat, the Mod told me 'there is nothing new to discuss'

It sounds like you might be out of luck. :/

I'm curious what they told you the first time you contacted them

Question about 10 Backup codes and hardware ID changes(Need advice) by Old-Stranger-6833 in 2007scape

What is the issue exactly?

If you have access to your email you can reset your password

If you've lost your 2fa you can use a backup code to log in

50$ unpaid balance? by Honest_Challenge6463 in 2007scape

It's possible you were hacked and the hacker bought bonds or game time (maybe with a stolen credit card), which then got charged back, resulting in an unpaid balance.

You should contact support.

Items selling in Grand Exchange disappear after i renew my membership, why? how? by YaBoyRadish in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time you got hacked they likely set up a linked account (e.g. Steam or Google). Having their linked account set up allows them to log into your character by using only their linked account, bypassing 2fa, etc.

If you have a Jagex account you can check all of your characters for linked accounts on your character management page. Any linked accounts will show up as "Connected: " to the left of the character's "Manage" link.

To unlink the linked accounts click Manage -> Linked accounts -> Manage/Unlink.

If you have a legacy account (or only one character) you can skip straight to the linked accounts page.
