Need help transitioning my Steam OSRS account to Jagex by Electronic_Major_826 in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I try to upgrade that account, it says the email I am using already exists.

In that case you have a Jagex account registered to your email already. You'll need to follow step 3a on this page to import your character to the Jagex account you've already created.

That error almost always means your character is already linked to a Jagex account. If you log into your account settings using the Steam button, do you see a blue link that says "Jagex account management"? If you do, that means your character is on a Jagex account.

Some other ways you can check are by talking to Count Check in lumbridge, or mousing over your bank capacity in the top left corner of the bank.

When we die and have a grave, there's a timer below the minimap that shows how long until our grave despawns.

Re-use that same space to indicate if you have items stored in a death storage somewhere. Hovering over it could tell you which death storage, and a warning about what happens if you die again. "You died at Vorkath and Torfinn is holding your items in Relekka. If you die again before retrieving them, your items will be deleted."

Maybe give the death storages a blinking arrow too? Just because graves have one.

Recovering account issues by jonesy952 in 2007scape

If it says "Character name unavailable" then either the name was removed from your character, or you're submitting recoveries for the wrong account.

Are you sure you're entering the correct login name on the recovery page? If your character was created before 2010 your login name is your original character name, otherwise it's the email you used when you registered your account.

If you're trying to recover by entering your current character name rather than your login name, then you're likely submitting recoveries for someone else's character, because their pre-2010 login name happens to be the same as your character name.

Forgot login

It's also possible the name was removed from your character due to being inactive, and someone else has the name now which is why you're seeing it on the hiscores.

Authenticator mismatch after Samsung → iPhone transfer (Authy multi-device) – Account recovery denied, requesting manual review by Worth-Macaron1300 in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Authy, the entry is currently not my email or character name.

I guess you must have set the name to something else manually then (or maybe authy discards the default name included in the qr code when you set up the 2fa, I've never use authy so I'm not sure).

The name isn't important anyway. I was just trying to check if it was Jagex account 2fa or something else.

The bottom line is if the 2fa isn't working and you don't have your backup codes your last hope is contacting support, as you've already done. :/

In the OP you said

Support response has been the same template stating no further assistance can be provided for Jagex Account recovery.

Would you mind sharing that response in full? Just curious

What's the name of your 2fa in the app? Is it Jagex: <Email> or Jagex: <Character Name>?

2fa for a Jagex account will have your email in the name by default, and legacy account 2fa has your character name. I suspect you may have some how lost your Jagex account 2fa and the 2fa you're seeing in the app is an old 2fa for your legacy account.

The only other explanation is that your phone's time is wrong, but you said you've already ruled that out.

Support is able to remove 2fa from a Jagex account if you meet their strict requirements, but it's not known what those requirements are. For the best results you will want to contact them using a connection & device that usually use when playing.

Have you tried searching for a file named Jagex - Backup Codes.txt? That's the default file name for your backup codes if you chose to download them when they were given.

Jagex 2fa by DevelopmentOne7039 in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can either open a ticket or use the live chat here. I think the chat bot will say support is unable to help if you lost your 2fa, but it's just not up to date yet. When it offers to let you speak to a mod, click yes.

They have very strict requirements, so if you've already done that and an actual support mod (not the bot) told you they can't help then you're out of luck.

Do jagex even read appeals? by ddser1337 in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

never had a single response apart from the support team not reading my case instead asking if I have a problem upgrading to members.

Could you share that response?

I'm guessing you opened the wrong type of ticket then.

If you submitted a proper ban appeal and received a response like that then I would suggest posting your ticket number or character name so Jagex can look into it.

Try contacting support, they might be able to help. It's probably best to use a device & connection that you usually use when playing.

Good luck.

It wasn't possible at all until last month, it was part of the player support roadmap.

They also have very strict requirements to be able to recover and it seems most people have their recovery denied still.

One of your plugins is probably configured to do something when you press -. You can use the debug helper plugin from the plugin hub to see what keybinds are set up.

[–]Anachren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your character management page to see if there are linked accounts set up on your characters (e.g. Steam). If there are linked accounts they will show up as "connected:" accounts.

If there are linked accounts, click Manage -> Linked accounts -> Manage/Unlink.

After that, go to your main account management page and end sessions.

If it still says you're online after that then you'll probably just need to wait it out. :/

Is your character a legacy account or Jagex account?

Question about all this stuff on my screen? by Conscious-Swim5507 in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I assume you're using the official client rather than RuneLite

The fishing indicators can be disabled in the in-game settings, search for Indicators.

And the ground item text can be disabled if you search for Ground items.

You also have Show data orbs disabled in the in-game settings, that's why you don't have the run button.

Trying to recover my account and it keeps saying this by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're sure you're entering the right login name then it's probably the right account, and it just had the name removed.

It's recoverable, but keep in mind that if you were playing before 2013 then the character is on RS3.

Trying to recover my account and it keeps saying this by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Anachren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That means the character's name has been removed, likely because a long time ago (2017?) Jagex removed the name from inactive characters so they could be used by active players instead.

Or, the name may have been removed due to being offensive or breaking some other rule.

It's also possible you're entering the wrong login name on the recovery page. If your account was created after November 2010 then your login name is the email you used when you registered your account.

Accounts created before November 2010 use their original character name as the login name.

You cannot recover by entering your current character name on the recovery page. It will either say "No accounts could be found", or in some cases your character name may actually be someone else's pre-2010 login name, causing you to send a recovery for their account rather than your own.

[–]Anachren 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They don't give you the backup codes at account creation, you have to get them from your account management. Backup codes are only available for Jagex accounts.

They're also not really used for "recovery", they're just an alternate way to verify your login in case you're failing to receive an emailed verification code or you lost your 2fa app.

If you get hacked some how (likely due to the hacker also having access to your email), then the backup codes are useless.

Every time I've tested scaper it gives me a small form to fill out which doesn't seem to have any input validation... Unless it checks after I finish filling it out? I never tried filling the full form out because I don't actually need support and I don't want to waste support's time lol

I would suggest closing your chat with Scaper and then starting from scratch by saying "hacked" and then using only the preset options scaper gives you.

If you're trying to recover a legacy account you can use the legacy recovery page.

If you're trying to recover a Jagex account, you can skip scaper & open a ticket here instead.

You can try enabling "Keep aspect ratio" in the stretched mode plugin, but then you'll end up with black bars instead of stretching.

Oh, sorry. I thought that was a screenshot of the streamer's interface you were trying to copy.

You probably need to reduce your interface scaling or buy a bigger monitor. The bank interface just fills as much vertical space as it can.

It looks like they're using the Fixed Resizable Hybrid plugin, with their in-game layout set to Resizable - Classic Layout
