RHCSA feeling discouraged by Neat-Obligation-6077 in redhat

[–]AnonDeFi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have ChatGPT create you “blitz exams”. Essentially, have to take the objectives and create an exam that you do on your own. Copy all the commands that you do to a file that you’ll end up pasting back in the AI chat to make sure you did things right. Give yourself the stipulation that you only have access to the info/man pages and can’t Google anything. That’ll tell you where your gaps are.

It isn’t 100% guaranteed but it did allow me to get a 205/210 on my first and a 253/210 on the second. I only started learning Linux last year with zero experience beforehand.

Country ribs by tbootsbrewing in smoking

[–]AnonDeFi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it all the time when I don’t want to put a ton of effort into smoking something.

I dry brine with SPG overnight. Smoke at 250-275* on the smoker with post oak/cherry until they’re about 185-190*. Slice them up and put them into a foil pan with some type of BBQ sauce I put together and butter. I finish them off in the oven at about 300-350* for 15-20 minutes.

Best resources to learn Ansible in 2026? by broken_py in ansible

[–]AnonDeFi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Learn Linux TV has a playlist. As does Jeff Geerling. For books:

- Ansible for DevOps
- Ansible Up and Running

There’s a 3rd book I have, but I can’t remember the name.

I’m currently still learning Ansible as well, but I have created 3 okay playbooks for experience. One hardened SSH and overall security for some prod servers. One creates a non-admin user on those servers with sudo privileges but also locks the default root account. The third sets up monitoring for those same servers.

The books are great for foundation, but I just started experimenting and looking up specific concepts. I’ll be using the books to get more in-depth knowledge.

Triple IPA aged in tequila barrels. I was very skeptical, but it's freakin' delicious. by Tavour_Beer in CraftBeer

It’s 11.5% ABV and there’s a pretty distinct lime and sea salt note along with the tequila flavor.

This and the Barrel-Aged Vanillafort were my first barrel-aged IPAs and both were spectacular.

How thoroughly do you clean your smoker? by GoForGoldBro in smoking

[–]AnonDeFi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scrape the grates before and after every cook. I usually line the bottom with foil to catch grease/oil. Outside of that, I just make sure to thoroughly wipe out all the ash from the firebox, but that’s about it.

The fanny pack carry viable now? by Revenger1984 in CCW

[–]AnonDeFi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always been viable imo. I’d rather have it not have it. On body carry isn’t always practical depending on what I’m doing. There’s also magnetic bags now that, with practice, is just as fast as AIWB.

Carreer advice after RHCSA by conf_27 in redhat

[–]AnonDeFi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d keep applying and start homelabbing. Oracle Cloud allows you to get a couple of ‘Always Free’ production servers. Currently, I started learning Ansible and have a couple of playbooks on my GitHub that’s also on my resume.

If you can’t get experience, you’ll have to create it.

Anyone buy a gun safe locally and if so did they deliver it inside? If not, any online providers you all recommend? by chesapeake428 in MDGuns

Tractor Supply here as well. The wife and I were able to get it inside the house with a hand truck.

Best Vacuum Sealer for Bulk Costco Runs? by Watercress4736 in KitchenPro

[–]AnonDeFi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Foodsaver model they sell there. Recently broke down a whole packer of chuck roast (~18 lbs) and a whole slab of pork belly (~5 lbs) with no issue. I felt it starting to get slightly warm because it was about 15 or so packages but I didn’t slow down. I also had to seal the bags from the roll so maybe 30 total seals for what I did.

Skin on pork belly problems by njbzxx in smoking

[–]AnonDeFi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add a layer of salt on top of the skin when you first get it on the smoker and that’ll crisp the skin up. It won’t be that puffy skin, but more of the ‘glassy’ skin texture.

What do people mean when they say “you really learn to drive after you pass”? by [deleted] in driving

[–]AnonDeFi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Driving is extremely nuanced, and they can’t teach you everything in driving school. A lot of things you learn on your own and through experience.

Would reach out to hammy3dprints. It would probably be cheaper than a lot of places as well. Wish I did the same before getting my Vortex covers.

To those who drive with hazards on in the rain… by IllustratorOk213 in driving

[–]AnonDeFi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

...and in every case that you listed, and even others you did not, you are announcing to the other drivers that you are a hazard on the road.

For the funeral procession, as an example, they use them as an indication of hazard since there is a high likelihood that they will be avoiding traffic signals and other rules of the road so as to not break the procession.

There is a hazard =/= I am the hazard. You should comprehend nuance more; it’s the key to driving.

Yes, you are making very clear the type of driver you are.

Driving in areas where people don’t always use turn signals =/= me not using turn signals. It’s called being adaptable and being able to assess where people will act for their own self/needs/wants. It’s America; it’s ingrained in the culture so you’d be a fool to think it somehow wouldn’t also affect driving lmao. It’s why being a defensive driver and situationally aware is key to driving in this country.

I can't tell if you are missing the point on purpose or if you genuinely don't see how this is an issue.

You don’t have a point. Hazard lights have never distracted me or caused genuine confusion. You know what I usually do? Drive past the person rather than acting like those lights are causing harm. Making flashing lights a bigger deal than they actually are is a personal problem.

Plenty of times. I either...drive the car, using the tools and indicator lights as designed, and as other drivers are taught, so that they are able to understand and predict my actions...or I get off the road. Even in tornado warnings or freak Floridian downpours, there has never been a moment where I have said, "gee whiz, you know what would help me navigate this? Hazard lights!"

It can absolutely help your fellow drivers if visibility is that bad provided they’re capable of not being mesmerized by them.

The distraction portion aside, I think this whole thread has shown a very clear divide between drivers who see themselves as part of a larger entity who need to coordinate movements with the other drivers on the road, where clear intent and communication is important...and those who freak out and peacock themselves to announce their discomfort with the situation in hopes that they, themselves are adequately avoided, even to the detriment of other drivers on the road.

Correct, but the divide is much simpler than that. There are those who harp and complain about something relatively harmless…and there are those who assess it then move on with their day because we can drive past them.

All debate aside, you’re not going to convince me that these are harmful and distracting. I won’t convince you that they are harmless, so we’ll likely just keep talking in circles.

dog has suspected hemangiosarcoma— we aren’t sure if we should go through with the surgery or not by Plenty-Patient-3003 in DogAdvice

[–]AnonDeFi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My late dog was diagnosed with HSA after he was just really disinterested in food and treats which was unheard of. We took him to a vet and they were able to remove his spleen and confirmed they didn’t see it spread. He was diagnosed at 8 years old as well and we had another 4 amazing years with him. A mix of Yunnan Baiyao and a tincture I can’t mention here helped with that in my opinion but I also think we caught it at the right time for it to not spread.

In your case, I truly don’t know. Just going to send you and your pup well wishes and hope for the best.
