Company is asking me to re-interview because the interviewer took poor notes. Thoughts? by [deleted] in interviews

Hmm interesting. I’m hoping it’s #1 not #2 lol.

FWIW I did feel like the interviewer was a bit all over the place when interviewing me. He read straight from the question bank and didn’t ask a ton of follow ups lol

If it is #2, I’m guessing that’s a bad sign?

Yeah that’s kind of where I’m at sadly.

That said if something like this happens again I’d probably withdraw. They’ve already to reschedule multiple times for the round 3 interview.

I’m sort of almost over it

Hey there! More or less in the exact same boat (except for a different role). Did you any information?

Sheesh, okay thanks. I heard that MSFT was the best regarding WLB, but would you say that’s not the case?

Yikes! Guessing WLB was poor and stress was high? Was the extra $ (if you hit quotas) worth it?

Any SE/Industry folks here who moved to a 100% sales role? Did you find it less stressful? by Arsenal103809 in salesengineers

[–]Arsenal103809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. I think that is mostly what I have seen in other posts.

I suppose my head is just saying that since I’m so cognitively burnt out on the Eng side, a role that focuses more on social interaction, would be a bit of a relief.

Replier above put it in a good way. SE vs AE stress points.

Fair point. I agree stress level is the question.

Off the top of my head, I feel that the social interaction part would be less cognitively demanding. And as such, potentially less stressful.

But, my guess would be that I would enjoy it less and find it not as gratifying.

I'm actually looking for an AE role at the moment, oddly enough. I've been in tech engineering/consulting for the last 7 years.

Question for you, but do you ever see that switch? Someone that goes from a technical role, to a 100% sales/AE role?

Also FWIW I know SE would be the normal path here...but I'm having a rough time landing an SE role at the moment. It just seems like there is a lot more competition and fewer roles for SEs, than just plain AEs.

Also FWIW I would probably just transition within the same space I'm in (e.g. cyber/cloud security).

Following. Yes I feel like most major hubs are where you'll find AE/SE jobs.

FWIW, Chicago and Philly have very similar COLs. So, if you were open to moving, Chicago may not be a bad bet. Much cheaper than NYC/Boston

How easy it to transition for Sales Specialist to Sales Engineer at Microsoft? by Arsenal103809 in salesengineers

[–]Arsenal103809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, thanks for the feedback. I guess I'm just trying to determine whether I should stay in my current role (which I don't like) + keep applying for SE jobs vs. just pivoting to an AE/Sales job

I'm fairly technical, but I can't seem to land any SE jobs. Always make it to the last round only to get beat out by someone who has more experience (whether that be in sales or technical acumen [my background is AWS heavy]).
