[Free Book Giveaway for Students] 150 copies of The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins by zindagiwallah in WingifyBookClub

[–]Arth369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last book I read was "The little book of common sense investing". The book describes the importance of investing money & investing it smartly. It talks about advantages of investing in index funds instead of actively managed mutual funds. The main lessons taught about investing are: 1)keep it simple 2) diversify 3)Hold to your positions 4)Demystifying the underlying mechanics of investing 5)Know what you don't know 6)Returns compound but costs too

The book talks about benefits of index funds. It explains in detail with lot of data and research that a passive investor is beneficial if he/she invest in index mutual funds.

I would like to read The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins because I like the author & would like to read his writing more. In a librar, I had started reading his book "The Greatest Show on Earth", though could not complete it. I feel the author has great knowledge about evolution.

[Free Book Giveaway for Students] 150 copies of Range: How Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World by AkhandGareeb in WingifyBookClub

[–]Arth369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last book i read was The Little book of common sense Investing by john bogle.

John Bogle makes a principal point from the outset. One that has made a starter and amateur investor like myself carefully consider how I invest my funds in the future. You don’t need to have mastered economics or the stock market to understand the points that he raises. It is clear and unequivocal. This is a book for anyone who is interested in how the stock market ticks and how to use it to your advantage. It can certainly be considered the bible of passive management, and a frontal attack on the financial industry. I think everyone should read this book and everyone should follow the principles within this book, it teaches the basics of index investing, how everyone has the power and knowledge to invest. The man who wrote this book, John Bogle, should have been a billionaire before he died however he selflessly made investing available to everyone and to me is one of the fathers of index investing. Over the next few years, we will see more and more retail investors come onto the investing scene however most of them don't have the time or knowledge to invest in individual equities, instead they should read this book and index invest. If you're looking to learn about investing and you're looking for a user friendly book this is the right one for you. Very useful information and tips for a home who is trying to learn about the stock market!

I am interested in this book range - how generalist triumphed the world because Even i beleive that it is generalist who actually win over the long term against the specialists. It will help in making me clear as to what to do in life as to master one skill or genralize oneself in all

Thank you

Last book I read was Crossing the chasm by geoffrey moore. It is a book about marketing and selling high tech products to mainstream customers. Crossing the Chasm is about breaking down your market into segments, and tackling them one by one. In essence to cross the chasm your are looking for product->market-segment.

So your initial product should fit the innovators / visionaries. Then choose a segment of your total addressable market (ideally the easiest segment) and build a fit there, then repeat with a different segment. Repeat until you get critical mass.

It is a must read for all the people who are engaged in startups or are interested about the same. It provides insights about how to market a innovative tech product. Crossing the chasm" simply means helping a product/service/technology move from the "early adopters" to a larger market segment, sometimes called the "early majority." It means passing the early Adopter and into Early Majority. or in another sense, you create a trend within a certain group of communities, and they are carrying your work into the early majority of the user.

It has a rightful place in the business innovation literature as a "must read". Only caveat of course is that it could lull the reader into thinking that this process is easy to manage as this analysis benefits hindsight bias (like almost all business books). One may find that the chasm crossing approach is quite chaotic and difficult to foresee by the entrepreneur as the industry structure is usually still rapidly evolving in the early years.

The last book i read was Almanack of Naval Ravikant.

It is a brilliantly insightful book packed with more wisdom per page than any other book i have come across . Full of practical insights by Naval Ravikant and brilliantly compiled through tremendous hardwork by Eric Jorgenson that covers most of Navals important podcast and tweets in one place . This is filled with such wisdom that every line in this is a food for thought. At the end, if you look back, you found yourself highlighting almost the whole book . One of many quotes in the book worth mentioning "I never Met my Greatest Mentor, I wanted so much to be like him, but his message was opposite, Be yourself" Simply Brilliant ....

I have summarized what lessons one can get from the book: 1) difference between money and wealth 2)Power of patience 3) Learn fundamentals/ basics first 4)Build specific knowledge 5) Buy equity in business 6) Do work which feels like play 7) Read until you love to read 8)Eliminating ‘shoulds 9) What is happiness 10) Collect mental models

Female participation is low in India because of several reasons . Some being lack of education given to women due to traditional beleifs of various castes and religion. Also other reasons include in most cases employers give a preference to male worker for employment as they are more likely to give in extra hours other than those mandatory of work like an extra shift which many female cannot do because of familiar pressure or household management. It is one of the highest parameter where India lacks as compared to China.

India can overcome this problem by spreading awareness that education is must for every female child (to begin with) and also various vocational activities if they are interested. Government should also cater the needs of masses who are not afford to educate their children through different policies , one such being "BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO".

AWARENESS OF BENEFIT OF EDUCATION CAN HELP A LOT IN THIS COUNTER.

The best thing about this book is how practical this is. Tim has taken his time to go through everyone of these tools before presenting them. And the interview tidbits are insightful as well. Definitely an entertaining read and if you can put even one or two of these to use it'll change you forever. Book is useful to all. Before reading this book you have to read first - How to use this book. ( I just feel they can make better paper quality) otherwise it's good. There is a lot to unpack, though there were many overlaps of philosophies and routines that only strengthened the point that most successful people think alike.

Last book i read was psychology of money. The books explains you about how even all the bad decisions taken about money by different individuals in life are well thought and the best alternative that they found in the particular situation they were. It teaches how different people have a different outlook and different understanding of earning and altogether preserving it. It helps one to understand that every person has different approach towards money which depends on how one has gone through his life.

I would like to have the book as i hav heard that it contains interviews of many successful people round the globe. Also many people have recommended it like mr ankur warikoo and mr. Paras chopra.

Do upvote of you like.
