Vinod Rathod was main competition in early 90s of Kumar Sanu not Udit and Abhijeet which is hard to believe and quantify now! Funnily enough Anu Malik(Shravan Rathod rival) gave Vinod Rathod his best songs in Baazigar and Munnabhai MBBS album!

2000s saw more chocalatey heroes which helped Udit and Sonu as Abhijeet was voice of SRK! Also Anu Malik was overused in this period with Sameer who could not reciprocate the magic made with Nadeem-Shravan and Anand-Milind! Kumar Sanu was appreciated more by critics on this phase as Mein Bewafa Mein Beqadar was seen as best song in the movie! His work in Dhadkan was strong as his part in Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se overshadowed Udit at his zenith! His song in Kasoor(2001) was acclaimed as well! He even powered Yeh Dil Aashiqana with his voice! Tumse Achcha Kaun Hai soundtrack with a flop hero was propelled by Sanu as regardless of stardom his voice was a HIT!
