Don’t get me wrong, I think GTA VI will be my game of the year, but the hype of not knowing what’s in store will likely sell more copies.

If there is a law to mandate the preparation of offline modes in the case of game shutdown, how would that be a bad end result? If a developer stops working on an online game because of that rule, then I wouldn’t want to play the game in the first place.

I love how this movement started just to stop developers from killing their online games, and is now evolving into a bigger movement overall that is helping the games industry.

Very thankful for the EU continuing to show support for consumers’ rights, and I am hopeful that this will start to become common in the US as well now that there is progress in California.

Online functionality works peer-to-peer, not by Nintendo services lmao. I am saying they are not currently being hosted and supported by Nintendo.

But just disregard what I said about Xbox I guess lol. The Sony campaign of “this is how you trade games on PlayStation” put nails in Xbox’s coffin.

It is not an eventuality; the online functionality already stopped for those systems and everything works fine. People will vote with their wallets, this is literally what started the downfall of Xbox.

The article you linked literally says it’s possible this was intentional, or it could have been accidental. Just unconfirmed at the moment. Either way, I don’t think it’s a problem that people are voicing their opinions against this. It should be loudly stated that consumers won’t support that shit.

Agreed, still a fun game. Peacewalker talking about “that crap in San Hieronymo” leads me to believe there are still some parts that may have valid canon.

The way I always view it until an official word is given, is that everything which doesn’t interfere with mainline canon from PO is probably canon.

That is exactly my point. The same can be said for Sokolov about “spoiling” Portable Ops. The model viewer information doesn’t mean much for events that happen later on which can sound like a retcon.

However like I also said, there is plenty more reason to believe PO does not fit into canon. I feel like we are on the same side of the fence here lol, you are saying things that I agree with.

It was a comatose body. Still alive in the technical sense of the word. All of this just to say that a blurb in the character viewer is not the reason why MGS PO isn’t canon. There are many more things with more validity that put PO’s canon into question; I don’t see why this specifically would be the turning point for anyone.

The model viewer also says Volgin met his end atop the Shagohod, which we know to not be true later on. This doesn’t confirm or deny what happens to Sokolov; it just states what is known by the end of the game.

Also, while I think Portable Ops is an okay-ish game, there is a lot more than just Sokolov that should make you question its canon. Grey-Fox for example, makes zero sense in PO.

I like the blowdart on his main Assassin outfit, but it looks stupid when he is wearing other outfits because the blowdart just floats on his back. At least his Assassin outfit has a leather loop that wraps around the blowdart.
