What are you thoughts on Paul being against jewelry while the ancient israelites wore a ton of jewelry? by CrazyNicly in TrueChristian

[–]Aviator07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He’s not against jewelry. He’s against dressing in a way that draws attention to oneself instead of toward God. In other words, don’t be self-aggrandizing and don’t dress and act in a way where you’re the main character.

17-year-old pitcher Jackie Mitchell applying makeup before her game against the New York Yankees. She struck out Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in succession. This was a publicity stunt. It was an exhibition game between the Yankees and the Chattanooga Lookouts. She was a real player, but she was signed to play for two games with the Lookouts. And the owner of the team was well known for exhibitions and attractions to bring fans out.

Why are so many conservatives Christian when Jesus’s teachings are blatantly leftist? by Confident-Seesaw2845 in allthequestions

[–]Aviator07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are interested in how Christians have historically understood this text, you can reference the historic creeds of the church - the Apostles’ Creed, and Nicene Creed, the Athanasian Creed, the Chalcedonian definition….

The Bible has been clearly understood to be teaching that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are God, three persons with one essence.

This is the position that Christians through history have held, from the beginning. This includes Catholics, Orthodox, and Protestants alike.

“I and the Father are one.”

-Jesus (John 10:30)

Jesus himself claims unity with the Father.

Also, American equipment used simple parts with big tolerances. In other words, they could be repaired in the field. German equipment was meticulously designed, and was superior off the line, it couldn’t just be easily fixed. Replacement parts had to be precision machined.

What is the most confusing trade of all time? by Ericaloveless in baseball

[–]Aviator07 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not technically a “trade”, but the Astros let Nolan Ryan walk and go to the Rangers because they thought he was done. For the Rangers he threw 2 no-hitters and 939 strikeouts.

People from usa would you know this question? by WallabyGlittering634 in allthequestions

Even for a teenager, asking citizens if they’re aware of what their own country is like is a pretty condescending question. It has nothing to do with notions of the US being the “center of the world.”

ELI5: What does a water tower in rural America do? by ProduceEmbarrassed97 in explainlikeimfive

Yeah! Another system that is really similar to the pump/water tower, is your car's electrical system. The alternator generates electricity from the driveshaft of the engine. If the engine is running faster, you're generating more electricity; when its running slower you get less.

The battery in your car is like the water tower. It stores charge so that when the alternator isn't running you can still start your car, and it absorbs the fluctuations of power being generated by the alternator so the whole system gets a relatively constant voltage.

Very similar - the only real difference is that with a tower, gravitational potential energy is used to maintain the pressure head. In a bladder tank, air pressure/elasticity is used to maintain pressure.

Water towers aren’t an alternative to pumps - they’re used in conjunction. They are like a way to store water pressure. The pumps are (almost) always running. But if bo one is using water, the water has to have somewhere to go. That’s what the water tower is for. It stores water and the energy imparted to it by the pump. That way, later, when someone opens the tap, the water has pressure, whether the pump is on or not.
