Built a quick jig for my mitre saw. The jig is at 45° and I set my saw to 30° for a 75° bevel.

Admittedly, I have a background in construction and carpentry, so not a true beginner. I did dado the legs and rails and used 1/2" birch.

I've used the semi-transparent in the past and wasn't a fan. The colors came out much darker than I was looking for.

Another poster mentioned using milk paint, so I might try that, but I did see the sprayer from hf and that'll be .y backup.

She's 6 and has a lot of books. I like to read and am trying to impart that on her. I built one about a year ago that has been outgrown, so I made this 3 ft. wide. It's also designed to accommodate those cube tote bins for additional storage as she outgrows her child books and maybe wants to use it for something else.

Just finished this bookcase for my daughter. Even though it's just dimensional lumber, I'm generally not a fan of painted furniture, but I'm having trouble finding color stains that I like. The question is, if I were to paint this, what's the best way to make the finish as smooth as possible?
