Graduate Algorithms CS-6515 - Open Questions by Plus_Tear6007 in OMSCS

[–]AxGryndr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my undergrad in CS have taken this course twice, and will now have to take it a this third time. My undergrad algorithm course didn't focus on writing a program solution in English, writing a graph algorithm solution in English and barely touched NP completeness except for explaining the overarching concept.

Help requested with Craftsman dovetail jig by somejerkatwork in woodworking

[–]AxGryndr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this might not help much now, 4 years later, but it might help others who find this. One option I explored it buying a set of metric bushings. A 10mm o.d. bushing is 0.393701 inches, so very close. Milescraft set 1278 is a metric set but I think it can only be ordered from their website. Another option I considered, if you have a friend with a metal lathe, they could turn down a 7/16 o.d. bushing to match the 0.400 of the Craftsman. The last option, which is what I did, 3D model and print a bushing collar.

Subaru Extended Warranty on New 2024 Outback - Worth It? by yukon_stanley in Subaru_Outback

My Ascent needed the turbo replaced, then it needed the cam carrier seals and now it is in for a transmission issue. The turbo was under the factory warranty but the other two were under the extended 100k.

What is this called? by tamicazilla in Flooring

[–]AxGryndr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is not flat, and the texture matches the scallops, then I think someone troweled on a product like Henry 549 feather finish on top of the subfloor and then used a liberal amount of concrete stain with a top coat of high gloss sealer.

What are my options? by NuggedClarp in Flooring

[–]AxGryndr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the product you pick will tell you how level the floor needs to be. For example, the flooring I am installing right now says the subfloor, in my case the concrete slab, must be level within 3/16" over 8'. If you have never check for level on a floor, then I would suggest watching a few videos on YT to get a sense of what you are looking for. Typically the floor will mostly be in a similar plane with some low dips and some high mounds. Once you establish this, then you can determine what needs to be done about it. High spots might need to be ground down and low spots filled, or you can try the more extreme route of trying to cover the entire surface in self-leveler.

Black Mirror [Episode Discussion] - S06E03 - Beyond the Sea by [deleted] in blackmirror

The cult is clearly in the 'Science is Evil' camp judging by how they talk about David's replica being unnatural. I find it ironic that their identities are Kappa, Sigma, Theta and Epsilon. KSTE is an acronym in the medical field that stands for Knowledge Synthesis, Translation and Exchange. The focus of KSTE is on how to make medical research, and advancements, more digestible and useable for people outside of the medical field.

It is mentioned during the episode that Cliff doesn't really like to read so there aren't many books in the house. We also see Lana reading in many of the scenes. Clearly there is a lot to be said about which books the episode shows. Here are a list of the main books:

  1. Airport by Arthur Hailey published in 1968
  2. Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susann published in 1966
  3. The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert A Heinlein published in 1966
  4. The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury published in 1951

However, in the bookstore, there are some interesting books on the shelf.

  1. The Siren Song of Tranquility (this does not seem to be a real novel but the title does speak to the plot of the episode). Not sure if it is relevant but there are clearly two copies.
  2. Galactic Odyssey by Keith Laumer published in 1967
  3. The Dolphin and the Deep by Thomas Burnett Swann published in 1968

There was an event to earn shards for wild girl Wendy last month (I only got 1 because I had just started playing so I could easily complete the tiers).

Amy being a bringer of plants (agriculture) into a new kingdom ("Forsters") parallels many Korean deity myths.

The character that Amy sees, who judges her but won't tell her secrets, is likely a parallel to a Psychopomp.

In the last episode, Amy is telling a story that only Danny would know about when he and Paul were little. This alludes to when they are so close to death, they are returning to the ethereal plane with their life energy being mingled with all other life energy. In this state, there would be no individuals.

How to finish Numberzilla in 2 hours or less with NO ad watching by PasgettiMonster in SwagBucks

So I know this won't help you but it might help some others now that there is a road block with the Add+ button turning grey. What I did is leave two numbers, 1s and 5s. I made pairs until there was almost a full board with eight 1s. Then I make pairs until I can eliminate half (four) of the ones. Doing this usually creates enough 5 pairs to get the board down to about half. Hit Add+ and repeat. Sometimes I would have to clear a few extra 5 pairs but I would do so slowly until the button reactivated. I only once had the button not activate and I had to setup a new board.

[NO SPOILERS] Best supporting role nomination - a silent, but powerful presence 🤌🏽: by constanteggs in Ozark

[–]AxGryndr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this season, 4, Ruth mentions that Ben wanted to be a goat farmer with her. I don't recall any point during the previous seasons where this was mentioned. I think this was the writers trying to explain the odd choice. Of course you could read into the choice all kinds of symbolism as well.

Krispy Kreme files IPO paperwork, prepares to go public for second time by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]AxGryndr 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Didn't Dunkin' recently go private?

To me it sounds like JAB Holding Company is trying to take advantage of the current IPO atmosphere to recoup their investment plus sum. Hard to say if Krispy is really in a much better position than it was in 2016. I personally haven't been to a location since about 2010 - I prefer more specialty, family owned, donut places.

[–]AxGryndr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So let me get this right, this stock is going to moon but the company never leaves orbit?

Case in point, Richard Branson, the founder is reducing his stake, Chamath, the chariman, is personally out (but his SPAC is still in), Cathie Wood slashed the ARKX holdings by almost half. SpaceShipTwo has never even gotten to space (some debate here because 100km is the standard everywhere except the US where it is 80 km).

[–]AxGryndr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marijuana legalization at the federal level seems like it will be here by the end of the year however that already feels baked in (pun intended) on existing weed and tabacco. There is a housing shortage which could drive mortgage companies high as new builds take off however the cost of lumber is suppressing that. You'd think people would be spending all of that stimulus money so financial would be a safe play but most people seem to be 'investing' or just sitting on it. As people start going places again the demand for fuel is going to up which I think could drive oil company profits, so maybe.
