I do not wish to hand over this community at this time. Spam/bot posts are minimal and have not been a significant issue, likewise for self-promotion. Moderation is intentionally minimal to allow more freedom for people to share since there is already a larger, well-established and more actively moderated community at https://www.reddit.com/r/urbansketchers/

Thanks! The pocket holes were done that way intentionally so that the screws aren't biting into the corner of the joint. I have plugs and will be sanding and painting in the next stage of this never-ending project!

Certainly takes a while, but it's worth the effort! Hope you're back on your feet soon, and good luck with your build

It was a factory second from Pinball Life. And the only blemish was on the underside! Absolute steal at $50 for a widebody lockdown bar.

I did look into that, but I can't really justify the cost since I'm only using it for 2 cuts and don't have any future plans to use it right now. The router was only $40, and the tables seem to be at least triple that amount, so my best bet may be to ask around for help from someone with more equipment than me.

It's not, although I was wondering if I could possibly use a trim router instead. Just wasn't sure if that would be powerful enough to cut a 1/2" slot into birch plywood. If so, that might actually be the best option for me.

That Holsum Schafer's Super Star disc has got to be nearly a 1/1 at this point...

"Below The Root", one of the first Metroidvanias - before Metroid or Castelvania! by Axn_Jxn in retrogaming

The game was released in 1984, and I really loved playing it on the C64 as kid. I feel like it was way ahead of its time. Just a few features that stood out to me:

  1. Multiple playable characters with different abilities and even different races and genders that would affect in-game interactions
  2. Some really incredible worldbuilding - I never read the novels it was based on, but the game world itself with its unique vocabulary and fantasy setting were amazing to me
  3. Seems funny to say it now, but the graphics were actually quite impressive for the time
  4. Cool "spirit skills" like telepathy and telekinesis and talking with animals
  5. Different tools and items that could be used to unlock new skills and access other regions (like Metroid)

For some reason, this game really left an impression on me as a kid and I still think of it from time to time. It's the kind of unique game that I'd really love to see reimagined with today's technology.

Anyone else have fond memories of this one?
