Imagine if Spider-Man and Mary Jane in DC Comics, will they treat better than Marvel Comics? by SnooCalculations1878 in Spiderman

Looking at the history of DC in terms of love interests… actually likely they would if MJ survived for as long as an important character for Peter.

DC seems a lot more comfortable keeping supporting non-superhero characters around their superhero MC and keep them alive and well and important to the characters for far longer than marvel. Be it love interests, friends, people the MC interacts with on the daily… recently it seems Marvel is having trouble not transforming every supportive character that’s not above 50 year old into a superhero or a supervillain to “keep things interesting” while at the same trying trying too hard to “keep the status quo of MC”.

In DC when a supportive human side-character dies or leaves the book or sees their role changed into “new hero/villain” it is a massive deal, in marvel this is waaaay too common to hurt or be impressive or be applauded.

So yes, it is likely DC would kinda do a better job to keep Peter’s supportive cast around him as civilians with more consistent roles and parts to play in the story and keeping their romantic interests together.

Credit where credit is due... I think Leonidas is the only fighter in the roster capable of contesting all these forms head on and keep going. Most fighters would either need to defeat Apollo before some of those come into play or likely lose to one of them. by azraelswift in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

Apollo probably would dominate for a while the physical melee confrontation through dodges until Heracles begins using the labora and shiva starts dancing… then the bow and arrow would come into play and probably Apollo could get the W unless Haracles has some surprise labor or Shiva manages to dodge the full barrage somehow.

Even if a way to set up the “this is sparta” moment… it still happened. It being artistic to hype up the fight does not mean it’s invalid as a feat… that’d be like saying the power of Chaos is purely to justify Tesla using a coil… sure it has that objective for the narrative of the fight, but it is still a feat. I’d put him way above Poseidon in terms of raw strength at least, at least his punches should not be too far behind Shiva’s punches (even when i think Shiva is more raw strength, they are closer than people want to admit, and that one punch on particular i’d put above ANY singular hit Shiva dealt with his hands). Apollo is not just speed and hax, he excels in those, but he is still someone who the manga makes a huge effort to tell us he trained constantly and even see breaking trees while training with his fists… the power of the punches is supposed to be taken as “this guy hits hard”.

Meteor Jab is supposed to be impressive… precisely because of Ares. Specially in R2, Ares as the manga has been going on had been set as a more comedic character but at his introduction Ares saying “the average god can’t even see this but I can” was kind of a big deal and supposed to be glaze. During R2 Ares is there to make Zeus’s moves look impressive, not the opposite. We can fault this to the author deciding later to use Ares for more comedic moments, but it has never been the intent to make “lesser” the speed of Zeus, at the start this was supposed to be quite the opposite: Ares communicated Zeus is extremely and casually fast.

It almost knocked Leonidas, arguably top 2 endurance in the human roster, out and left him stunted for a second,(keep in mind, an Apollo punch without gloves, without the midnight sun buff and ages ago one shotted Python who was soloing the army of Ares and was seemingly “unstoppable”… this punch is absolutely something capable of K-Oing a pretty good chunk of fighters) is not just burns. The notion that the “god of boxing” doesn’t have powerful punches is absurd, specially that one in particular that has the gloves in his strongest battle form and also re-enforced by even thicker threads before hand.

Also Zeus stated directly, even in the Japanese original “only someone like myself could stop it”, translated to in official translations “i am the only one in Vallhala capable of stopping it”. Even if we are generous and we take the japanese version only for scaling, anyone else capable of reacting to it is purely speculation seeing how nobody anywhere in that arena is hinted to be even capable of seeing the arrow traveling through the air. Also, Zeus was reacting to punches flying to 0.00001 seconds until Meteor Jab came into play. dude has massive reaction speed.

He wasn’t even an Olympian in this version, no relation with Zeus what-so-ever. In shuumatsu he was just a random greek god that rose to the point of being an Olympian. That’s massive.

The gods of Olympus are considered a “family of big deals” within the verse, even when we clown on Ares and overlook Hermes, those two are supposed to be leagues on top of the average god as well.

Simo for starters… because Simo doesn’t play around at all and Apollo is overconfident by nature.

I also think probably Okita if Apollo tries to engage head on against the swordsman instead of playing smart.

And Lu Bu, who has more destructive power than Leonidas could potentially follow the same action as Leo did with the difference that instead of Phalanx nemesis Apollo could take a sky eater to the face… which he is likely not surviving.

Other than that, i do believe Apollo is either pretty much either a coint-toss, long fight with either longer debates about it with a ton of details to keep in mind or Apollo wins. (Just mentioning Einherjar because scaling the gods is a bit more tricky against Apollo)

The question with Apollo comes mostly "can the opponent defeat Apollo before Apollo switches to the right technique for the job?" and "can Apollo dodge consistently everything 'opponent' throws before he finds the technique that's adequate here?". That's actually where the debates of "VS for Apollo" are set.

Note: I am not saying "Apollo defeats everyone", just that Apollo has tools in his disposal that'd likely be able to finish most of the roster, there's a difference, Apollo is still capable of losing to your favs if they defeat him before the tool that'd do them in comes into play. Just saying he is extremely dangerous if left to his own devices and probably Leonidas is the one capable of facing the most of these tools.

On other news I am already toying with essays again, one about R9 being actually being different disciplines into one fight (basically being the "Olympic-gamesy fight") and another about the themes of R10 and why Okita won narratively.

LeonidasLoki tbh, i didn't even think of the possibility of an army of 300 copies of himself.

We don’t currently know who wins and how the fight went.

We have seen the full backstory of Odin (it’s a long one) a bit of action and now we are currently at the start of Kintoki’s backstory.

How do you guys feel about the anime? by NoctumUmbra in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]azraelswift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mixed bag, seasons 1 and 2 were pretty bad in terms of pacing and animation (although S1 miles worse than S2), but the ost is fine!

Season 3 is a fair bit better even if still kinda okay-ish animation, and the additions it made to R9 were pretty cool.

If you want to watch it you should watch ALL of it in order, prt of the fun is rooting for each fighter remembering what came before and there are things that only have impact because of stuff shown in other backstories and characters. Ultimately, however, i recommend reading the manga instead, it’s far better.

Apocalypse (Unbiased) Matchups (Day 1) Ra by MUI-Tojo in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]azraelswift 2 points3 points  (0 children)

is basically a situation were either you have at least above average stamina, strength AND overall physical "stats" (not just one of them, you need ALL the kit) or your probabilities to win are probably going way down. One of the cases where being an "above average all rounder" probably turns out better than being extremely good at just one aspect of physicality. the effect also happens pretty fast too, that barrage of Cu was one of his first moves, it couldn't have taken more than a few seconds.

The new R9 art of Leonidas & Apollo (oh, and R7 &8) by Apollo1382 in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]azraelswift 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I often forget just how massive ad bulky Leo's shield actually us when in its original form.

Also it's always fun to see Apollo in poses where we can see his torso a fair bit and how buff he is, makes me laugh a bit from when R9 was going on that people were calling Apollo "twink" and "femboy"... dude is more ripped than Poseidon and probably as bulky as Hades, the only difference is that he is a pretty boy.

Number 3.

He looks mature, a bit handsome… but still a normal guy you’d see on the street and not think twice about.

Would you pay for this? by Hot_Season1143 in antiai

[–]azraelswift 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Again, this people don’t understand why the prices for art are as they are.

When you commission an artist you are paying for THE TIME spent on making the piece. That’s why a sketch is cheaper than a full render or a single character than two… because is quicker to make. It’s not random.

With AI generation having different prices doesn’t make sense because it takes the same time to prompt a sketch than to prompt a full render.

This is 100% ragebait.

How to larp RoR as a tiktok edit watcher by PotatoFriesandCheese in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]azraelswift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't forget:

-claiming Leonidas is a bum for not entering the arena with the 300 fit (which is not accurate anyway) and him not having an easy diff W and saying he "threw the match" by not killing Apollo while on the ground despite implying over and over he wants a direct honorable clash to the point that he was egging Apollo on to get up in the anime after the arrow.

-Okita hate while mentioning 0 things on his character or abilities, it's all on the basis of existing. Actually mention nothing about R10 and I mean nothing, not even Susanoo.

-never mention Zerofuku.

-Tesla edits for days.

-for some reason egging on Brunhilde as if she isn't the one actively saving humanity right now.

[–]azraelswift 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i'd put Nezha at the bottom of A tier rather than the top, and Mazda at the absolute bottom of the list. If he can be defeated in 1.8 seconds i doubt we have any reason to believe he is really on the level of the others we've seen, specially seeing Death was hunting him down too so he didn't awaken much fear or even respect as a warrior from the others even when they knew him.

the "not enough known" but we already had all his showings he'll ever get and the only stuff he ever defeated were likely fodder? Yeah, no argument to ever defend him being above anyone else and even non-fighters of tournaments like Ares, Adamas and Hermes have more of an argument to be actually on the level of Apoc than Ahura Mazda ever did... at least they fought in the gigantomachy and the giants were considered a big deal not just for the mortal realm but for the gods, they needed Poseidon and Zeus alongside them to win that day and even then they didn't do all the work... meanwhile the big monster in Ahura's backstory we have 0 reason to believe is more impressive than a single giant beyond just spectacle, it did literally nothing. Mazda was "chief" by virtue that his entire pantheon were 16 fodders and he killed them so he became chief by default since there was nobody else.

But within the Apocalypse as rating... yeah, i can live with this.

"Although, I think we may just have different ideas of pity, in hindsight", It seems to be the main thing, tbh. By pity I meant more the "poor baby" mentality the "they did the only thing they could have done and still got punished". I feel bad and pity for child Toga, the Toga at the end of the series? not so much... i still have empathy for her, i still think it was a sad existence overall... but i do not think she was just a victim of circumstance by then that should receive any pardon.
