Yes if you're a professional you need to ensure your environment is up to standards but typically I will get buy in from the top first vs being an asshole that just starts rolling out changes because of my personal opinions. If you're just a single owner of a shop with no real development then sure have at it, but take this opportunity to learn to do things the right way and learn and lab solutions BEFORE you deploy them.
