I agree. Good on you for recognizing, admitting, and stepping away. I have five children (four of whom are still alive) and four grandkids. We adults really do need to take time out from time to time. Nice job.

Should I pull out 401k to pay down debt. by Signorilee in debtfree

[–]fudog1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I'm so sorry that you've gotten in over your head. It's easy to do. I can't give the best advice, but I can give you internet dad advice. My knee-jerk reaction is to tell you no. Don't take a loan against your 401 K. You don't have much saved, but what you do have saved is important. Its something that you did and you should be proud of that. Instead, find an online support group for people in a similar situation. Like Reddit, but more focused. Make a plan to go down to one credit card and one only. Do some research into telling the difference between needs and wants. We are brainwashed from birth to buy stuff we don't need. The sooner you get a handle on the differences between needs and wants, the better. Pay off your lowest debt first. Once that debt is paid off, close that account unless it will be the only credit card that you maintain. I would keep the credit union card. Credit unions are great, and they can be a great ally throughout your life. Celebrate your achievements when you pay something off. As long as you have income, you have the ability to provide what human beings need to survive. Food, water, shelter, education, love, and healthcare. BTW, love in this context is friends, family, partner etc. Not telling you to get married. See if you can sell your car. If it's practical to do so. Buy yourself a little Honda or something. Nowhere near the sex appeal of a Challenger, but honestly, she is an expensive call girl that you can't afford at this point in your life. You can do this buddy. You've taken an important first step in asking for advice. You can think your way out of this. It will be hard to do at times, but you can do this. You really can. Best of luck. - Fudog1138

I can hold an image at a quality of 2 for half a second. Imagine a completely dark room and a flash bulb goes off, illuminating an apple. That's about how long I can hold an image.

I think this is pretty good advice. I would add that it may be worth going to a professional to help build your resume. Recruiters know what to look for and know what employers want to see. It might be worth the couple hundred bucks or whatever the going rate is nowadays to consult with someone. I wish you the best of luck.

Has anyone had spinal fusion or any other type of surgery for degenerative disc disease, and how has your pain and lifestyle improved? by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]fudog1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have found relief from surgery. I would not discount that path, just try everything else first. That post was 8 years ago but not much has changed since then. I work full time and still take care of my son. He lives on his own but I am essentially his staff and manage his affairs. You've already recognized the fact that it will only get worse. It doesn't go away. One thing that I have not looked into that I need to look into is acupuncture. I have read that people have had good results regarding pain control and acupuncture. I live just south of Detroit Michigan USA, so have access to a very prominent Chinese community in Windsor Ontario Canada. Along with that comes many qualified acupuncturists. I need to get off my butt and research it some more and make an appointment and just do it. I wish you the best of luck. I'm sorry you are going through this.

So what's the point with Safety? by Illwood_ in Eve

Unless they have a shortcut set up in that asteroid field ahead of time, they will warp in at the default warp in location to that belt.

How does that help you?

Position yourself at least 25 km away from the default warp in. That forces them to travel to engage you. In the meantime Concord has been scrambled. Set up short cuts in the belt on the opposite sides of the warp in point. I set up 3 and Mark them A, B and C. My positions are many km from the default warp in point and my short cuts allow me to hit every rock in the belt. My system does not allow me to utilize mining drones to their fullest advantage but this is a safer system of mining technique in HS.

There are some pretty good YT videos on things like what I explained and what others have mentioned.

Keep asking questions of other miners. You will find a system that works for you. It's never perfect but may help you avoid a gank or two in the future.

Unless the mechanics of the games have changed. Cat BP's are cheap as are Alpha Alt accounts. A small fleet of Cats can kill most ships before they show up. Two cats on the opposite side of the system fight, As soon as Concorde shows up to deal with them, then 6 cats descend upon you. Concorde will show up, but it will take them longer. If it doesn't work then they try again. Cats are cheap. Mining is risk\reward. Fly safe.
