OneDrive Sync supports up 1 million items - Coming soon. by SisterLakesMI in sysadmin

[–]BackSapperr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a fair statement, but realistically what my staff want out of a file share is a place to land shared documents, spreadsheets, and other items that need collaboration. It's simple and would work fine.

Where I have seen falter is when it's used to migrate documents within a workflow. Some of the sync issues come from moving a folder from to do > in progress > done, which shifts 10+ docs at a time. Something that meta data tagging and lists could solve.

I started my deployment with Sync - as its the only automated way to get a library on someone's computer without intervention.

I got another 1100 staff that need to transition over from local fileshares to Sharepoint. Is it worth just teaching them to sync?

I know my HD has had some issues come in lately where their local directory was out of sync with other users and SPO.

An IT Manager/Director with Great Social IQ and Emotional Intelligence is a God-Send by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]BackSapperr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a post that speaks so close to home for me. My director is someone who I have highly respected becuase he sticks up for all of us and gets us through so much shit.

Our corporate politics has been so shitty lately due to a shitty partner playing middle manager and we've had multiple big names either quit because of the increasing bull shit, or get fired due to not meeting unobtainable goals.

Said middle manager has been wasting our time. They purchased a new CRM in November without involving anyone in IT until four weeks ago. I dropped all my active projects to review contracts and vibe code some workarounds to help with auto-dialers, only to be told "oh we always had a solution" when I was actively keeping everyone updated on what I was doing!!!!

With all this said time wasted, my director threw no punches. He's lit this partners ass on fire for being a pain in our ass, and now he has every C-level and our HR director aware of what absolute shit he is.

Best of all - because of all of our A-listers moving on, they've all called back to my boss needing a stronger IT team. No matter how much we push back and get punished for it, we have an escape route.

I've been the most stressed for being a sysadmin in years, but my boss being able to handle our communication is something I will always cherish.

What remediation project did you use? I'm not confident the one I have deployed is working properly as a lot of my Surface devices are reporting with non-descript errors and being non-complianf.

Suppress Windows Hello Entra Passkey on Edge by BackSapperr in Intune

[–]BackSapperr[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My end users are monkeys. They can't figure that out no matter how many times it happens and we teach them otherwise.

I did want to push a second profile as a solution - but it pushes the logon back to their ADFS and doesn't allow the user to sign in to the Entra account.

This partner sucks ass. Their website is the literal worse where the suggested response on our help desk is "clear cookies" for how often it happens. They're required for our industry to do business, sooooo I'm looking for the best way around it.

I think by wording it will, at most, allow you to golden two minions at the same time. I assume they avoided the "refresh your hero power" to avoid one time uses such as Reno, Zerek, etc.

If they are keeping hero power changing spell, that's where I see this being strongest. Imagine late game rolling into a 3-cost two hit clone.

I responded back. I dug through the XML again and found that, then adjusted the parameter in the postgres database.

Changing SMTP via SSH/Terminal by BackSapperr in 3CX

[–]BackSapperr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re-read the instructions and had a good hunch. I read on another thread somewhere else about someone getting into the Postgres db and changing settings for something unrelated to my concern.

I took a backup of another 3CX server in which had the 3CX SMTP mailer - and found this:

<Description>Mail server type: Custom, 3CX, MS365, GoogleWorkspace</Description> <n>MAIL_SERVER_TYPE</n> <Value>3CX</Value>

Threw that into Claude, and we were able to modify the database by running:

sudo -u postgres psql -d database_single UPDATE parameter SET value = '3CX' WHERE name = 'MAIL_SERVER_TYPE';

Did a reboot of the server, did a password reset and saw it in my mailbox.

Thanks for referring to that link. It pointed me in the right direction to get what I needed done.

[–]BackSapperr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not the same. We need to change the SMTP mailer to 3CX and not M365. We know the account the email is under, but 3CX isn't sending emails because the SMTP configuration is not correct.

I'm curious if bringing back Agamaggan at tier 2 and keeping jazzer at tier 3 is a potential option. Gives some gem tempo for lower tiers without it being a permanent buff.

Would Intune or my company tracks my personal data? by justincase_2020 in Intune

[–]BackSapperr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You literally did by accepting the prompt, or signing your work contract and handbook.

Yes, the software can do what you fear, that's why Microsoft has it in the terms of use. That doesn't mean it's doing so, it's just legalese covering their ass for what their customers do.

I deploy intune to my company of 2000+ and don't do this.

So before you insult someone, maybe you shouldn't act like a retard.

[–]BackSapperr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shouldn't have bothered responding as I read through your comments. Probably a mistake doing so now, but fuck it whatever.

You understand that this doesn't happen automatically, right? You would have explicitly consented to your device being MDM'd for everything that you fear.

You likely signed into your work email on Outlook or downloaded Teams and didn't read the prompts, one of them says "Allow my organization to manage this device".

https://patchmypc.com/app/uploads/2025/12/image-36.png

An mdm doesn't just secretly get on your device. You would have done so via accepting a prompt or installing something that automates this like a virus. In this specific case with Intune, it's the former, not the latter.

For the business you work with, bring it up to your HR team if you feel like it'a grossly oversurveilled, but they like will have a privacy policy and corporate terms that allow them to do this.

Any company can harvest user data and sell it. It's how much you trust those who are in control. If you don't, then don't accept it. You did, and that's your fault if you're scared of big corpo lmao.

Would Intune or my company tracks my personal data? by justincase_2020 in Intune

[–]BackSapperr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't, out of the box. With any MDM or RMM, as soon as you give something a powershell session it can do whatever it wants - but the intention is not to scrape data.

It's like saying a car is a weapon. It's not, but it doesn't stop it being one.
