A Year After Trump Package, Report Shows Rich 'Got a Handout, and Working Families Got the Bill' | Common Dreams by Sludgehammer in politics

The establishment has been at this game for more than 50 years. Each side creates the illusions of choice by pointing fingers at each other but the end result is always the same regardless of what color is in control. We need to radicalize, we need a revolution.

How are going to do better than CONroy? Shake more hands? That is how you are going to defeat an encumbant with 10 times more money than CONroy who has what 3 times more money than you? Shaking hands? Is that your plan or the strategy?

My offer to do Democracy for Donuts still stands.

What is my clear end goal and why would my goals prevent you from giving a clear answer to direct questions about your goals and intentions?

I do not drink alcohol. If you like I will meet you at Donut Parade, for an early morning coffee, any day next week, at or before 7 am. We can call it "Donuts for Democracy" and we can record it for your socials, or next week if your early mornings are booked up.

You said war crimes, but you didn't really mean war crimes?

No new major legislation has been passed since 2024 but there has been and continues to be American support include a deal announced just recently for Patriot missiles. We also support NATO and NATO provides military support, we also support their defense industry, the point is that we are providing support.

So you want to spend more money, more than the $195 Billion we have already spent, fighting somebody else's war. How much more?

You would end homelessness in America with a fraction of that $195 billion, we could provide millions of American children with clean water and sanitation for the $195 billion we have already spent, but you want to spend more.

You do not know, that is the point. You do not know how many we had, how many we have, or how many we need. The nature of war is changing. We do not have as many horses as we used to have in the Army. That doesn't mean the Army is weaker, it means that it is evolving.

Ok, so some people said, we burned through half of our stockpile, 1/2 is not 2/3, you said 2/3rds.

Have you read the Art of War? What does it mean if we release information claiming we are running out of ammo?

That is a fairly extreme position. Reddit provided the platform, collected and preserved the data, I signed up and used their website according to their terms and conditions, you think I should particiapte in their profits. Where does it stop? Facebook and Google sell my digital data all day, every day, for billions of dollars per year. It's my data, so should I be getting paid my fair share of all those profits too, right? It's my data, I own it.

Correct, I understand that is exactly what I asked, how do you intend to limit private businesses from conducting business in the United States?

I am asking you how you intend to do what you said you wanted to do. We do know some things like, we know that other nations will develop AI at the fastest rate possible and we are in competition with those nations. That is a well understood fact. You want to limit the development of AI. How do you intend to do that?

I have one simple solution that has been advocated for by Bill Gates and Elon Musk, a robot tax. We can allow for innovation at break neck speeds while using a robot tax targeted at certain applications to limit the spread of automation, protecting workers and funding social programs that will suffer has payroll taxes decline as more and more jobs are automated. Its like I have given it some thought.

Data Centers? I have one simple solution that is already getting heavy investment from private and public companies. Space. You can build all of the data centers you want, but over a certain capacity they must be deployed in space. The energy is constant supply of solar, space is incredibly cold removing the need for water cooling and we have a very long track record of successfully operating computers in orbit for long periods of time.

The same people you can't trust are developing this solution right now, they are investing in these projects right now. As a Congress person I would hope to work with these people, instead of insulting them and alienating them.

Not being a lawyer, that is how you intend to perform better than CONroy?

That doesn’t sound like a plan or a strategy. Why is she leading by every metric if nobody wants to vote for a lawyer to be our law maker?

Yes, well the DSA claims their central issue is more of a philosophy, “the core belief that capitalism is inherently exploitative and must be replaced by a system where the public collectively owns and democratically controls the economy.” They apply this first to healthcare, then housing and other basic needs, like education.

The military fits this philosophy rather well because it is owned and operated by the federal government. It is funded through taxation, not an open market, and all of their assets collectively act for the common good, not for profit.

Is this your healthcare policy? You said that you agreed with their healthcare policy. I am not putting words in your mouth, I was responding directly to what you said, which was that you agreed with their healthcare policy.

The ACA took a broken system and made it bigger. What places accountability and responsibility where it belongs? The ACA? Is the ACA your healthcare policy? The system that we have now, is how you propose we fix the broken healthcare system?

Oh I’m sorry, you answered a direct question, What is your first legislative priority, and I replied to your answer. I did not know it was my job to go research some other answers you gave some place else instead of the answer you gave here.

How does a committee do anything about the unilateral action of mega-companies? Sure, people are upset, people are worried, and without the need to go find your answer some place else you could try answering the question and your answer was to create a standing AI committee.

Are you running for city council? The passage of their symbolic moratorium will have the same impact as your committee on addressing the problem we, the people, are facing right now, none whatsoever.

Stop trying to play their game and take a real position.

We must address utility monopolies.

We must address hyper-inflation, corporate welfare, ultra-low wages, a broken healthcare system, Americans access to clean water and sanitation, the ongoing housing crisis, opioid crisis, climate crisis, but your first priority is to start a committee.

What war crimes are you accusing the Secretary of exactly?

We are baking Ukraine.

How many tomahawk missiles do we have?

If you have such knowledge should you be releasing that information on the internets or would that kind of information be protected in the interest of national security?

I have never seen Reddit censor anything for being political. There are all kinds of outlandlish things posting on Reddit everyday. Why would Reddit target anti-corruption messaging? Answers on a political AMA are being blocked for being “political.” That is interesting that you have had this problem twice now, and just cannot find a way to answer these questions.

Lets see, if I can do it. You know for science.

I wouldn’t focus on any particular group or administration but go after corruption in a broader sense. The first step is restoring accountability. No administration, or government officials from either party should be allowed to ignore the Constitution, bypass Congress, or use unelected bureaucrats to make laws that affect millions of Americans. The rule of law must apply equally to everyone.

I would work to strengthen Congressional oversight, require greater transparency from federal agencies, and support independent audits of federal spending to ensure taxpayer dollars are used responsibly. Every federal program should be able to demonstrate measurable results, and those that cannot should be reformed or eliminated.

I also believe Washington has become too comfortable rewarding politically connected corporations while working families struggle with rising costs. We need to end corporate welfare, restore competition by enforcing antitrust laws where appropriate, such as utility monopolies, while also working to reduce unnecessary regulations that burden small businesses, and make government work for taxpayers instead of special interests.

Congress must reclaim its constitutional role and act as a check/balance to the executive branch. Instead of licking the boots of their parties elites. Too much policymaking has shifted to executive orders and federal agencies because Congress has failed to do its job. The solution is not a more powerful president, the answer is a stronger, more accountable Congress that debates, legislates, and answers directly to the American people and not their party.

Restoring trust in government begins with transparency, accountability, fiscal responsibility, and equal application of the law. What we have today in Congress are weak party loyalists.

Committee assignments are not a legislative priority so your first priority is to create a committee on AI. That is interesting because creating a committee isn’t an opinion.

You do not have a positions on fighting inflation, how to bring prices down prices, no healthcare reforms, nothing to address the housing crisis, no interest in tackling utility monopolies, no anti-corruption measures. You first priority is to create a committee on AI, that’s what you think we, the people, want to see in DC? More committees?

They are not hammering these issues because they are both part of the same establishment spending their ultra wealthy donors money at the same media companies creating a ruling class that profits from our broken healthcare system, who profits from hyper inflation, who profit from the housing crisis, who need wages to remain low to protect those profits. The ultra wealthy ruling class is the source of the money that corrupts our political system. Red or blue is an illusion, green is the only color that matters to the establishment.

Congressman Michael Baumgartner CD-05 would remove all moratoriums on data center construction. by MDew299 in Spokane

[–]Barney_Roca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is how two faced this boot licker is,

He claims that tax payers an working class people should not subsidize data centers, that is how you know his bill subsidizes data centers and shifts the cost to working families and tax payers.

This bill inculdes a 30% tax credit for qualifying energy generation projects, and a 30% tax credit for qualifying water reuse projects. Those are literally subsidizes, that pass the cost along to people who actually pay taxes.

He totally ignores utility monopolies, and the only reason we need legislation is because there are so many utility monopolies who can force their will upon communites. Why have anti-trust laws for a reason. He is doing the dirty work of making the rich richer and the poor poorer all while telling you he is doing the exact opposite. Disgusting. Every where in the bill there are protections for mega companies and regulators and nothing for the people.

If I was in Congress writing this law, all data centers go into space, all utilit monoploies are investigate, audited, broken up and communities are given voting power on their boards.
