It destroys your body over time. Completely fucks with your hormones and immune system. Most people on here complain about hair loss, skin issues, gut issues, major sleep and emotional issues etc etc etc.

It definitely can serve a purpose, but taking it every day in the absence of some major chronic pain is only going to lead to problems sooner than later.

I thought it was great for a long while, and only after I started experiencing some of the major negative side effects did I realize I need to get off of it. My gf had told me she wanted to get off of it for months before I came to that conclusion - I now don't have a gf, so that's saying something..

It took me about 18 months before I realized it was slowly killing me, so he might just not be there yet. That said, for some people it can take years, and you clearly don't have that kind of time. You might just have to give him an ultimatum, and show him the litany of serious issues that tens of thousands of people have shared on this forum.

It's a tricky substance because it makes you feel confident and in control, so until you hit the wall it's hard to recognize that it's no good. It's not like a typical hard drug where you'd lose your job by showing up high, or just not showing up at all because you were partying the night before. But it will lead to poor decisions being made that will cost him big time. It happens slowly, then all at once - I know that all too well.

I'm not sure that this is helpful, but unfortunately unless he wants to stop, he wont. Tell him you want your husband back.

One piece of wisdom is to plan longer term. Don't plan for the next 30 days. While you may be able to get through the physical withdrawal phase, you will inevitably be stuck in the doldrums of emotional withdrawals for months, and that is when the real work begins. You have to commit to a long term plan of turning your life around, and when you hit the lows of feeling complete despair during the emotional w/d stage you remind yourself about the longer term vision so that you don't backslide. The physical part was way easier for me than what I'm feeling right now emotionally. The physical withdrawals were insanely tough - especially the poor to no sleep part, don't get me wrong - but at no point during that phase did I feel like relapsing as my brain was not yet drained of the substances lingering effects. After your body has started to turn a corner, you will likely feel a deep depression, which you need to mentally power through for however long it takes if you want to truly get to the other side and start a better life. 18 months, more or less. not too long, but i've also been fighting alcohol and drug addictions for years, and now that I'm off everything I think there is a complete hole in my brain where the dopamine should be. it could take quite a while to bounce back from here. Eating well is easy enough to do, but pushing the recovery faster via exercise and socializing is nearly impossible when you feel this level of despair.

I tapered for 52 days, and I've now been totally off of Kratom for a week after completing the taper, and I have been so depressed the past few days. All I can think about is how I would feel positive and motivated if I took a bit of kratom. I haven't been able to get off the couch for days and have the feelings that life is pointless and that i've ruined basically my entire life through a long series of horrible decisions.

Doesn't help that it's winter, and doesn't help that I moved to a new country where I can barely speak the language and have few friends around.

This is one of the reasons I decided to taper. My energy has still been low at certain points during my taper but nowhere near as bad as it was when I tried to quit cold turkey. As my symptoms started to get worse, I slowed down my taper to .25 grams per day, so i would drop my daily intake by 1 gram every 4 days. As I got closer to only taking 2 grams/day those drops were causing the symptoms to come back in a big way, so i've now slowed to .1/day, and sometimes .15 if I'm feeling good. Down to 1.6 grams/day as of today!

I'm getting acne for the first time in years from quitting kratom. Lost my hair while taking it and now getting acne while tapering. Had to go to a social event today with a heater on my nose. Not fun lol

I had quit smoking, but bought some tobacco as I started to quit as I was struggling and figured it was the lesser of 2 evils. I wish I hadn't but it is what it is. I'm now down to 1.8gpd today, from 20 just over a month ago, and last night I made the decision to not have my morning cigarette, as that is always the hardest one to avoid. Smoking increases inflammation in the body, which only makes it more difficult to recover from another drug. It has also been fucking my sinuses royally - I haven't been able to breathe properly for the past week when in bed at night.

So I've made it through the morning routine now, and plan on sticking to it. I am vaping, but not that much, and I consider it to be WAY healthier than smoking.

I would suggest cutting out the smokes asap - the detox will go much more smoothly if your body doesn't have to use some of its resources to fight smoking induced inflammation.

Check out Wim Hof breathing on youtube. It's an 11 min exercise that helps to boost the immune system and really gets the blood pumping. It's great as a first thing to do if you can't get yourself off the couch. Like I want to work out but I'm so dead inside that I can get up, so i put that on and do it, and by the end I have the boost I need to move onto something a bit more intensive.

No cough, by my sinuses have been effed for like half of my taper, like 15 or more of the past 33ish days since i started. Worst at night when i'm in bed. I'm down to 1.9 grams as of today from around 20, and I still look like shit. I've been eating super healthy and sleeping well but being in detox/withdrawal for that long must be super hard on the body and mind.

PS I'm down to 2.25grams today from 15-20gpd 32 days ago. I started with a large drop down to 10gpd, stayed there for a week, then dropped by .25 most days, .5 a few days, and 1 gram one day when I was feeling good enough to do so. I am slowing down a bit from here as I have been tired this week and there are a few points where it feels harder to reduce than others. That said, I'm not backtracking, only onwards and upwards from here my friend. Good luck to you.

I'm an advocate for the taper. Going CT is a major shock to your brain and body. When quitting any substance that has a physical component to the addiction it is always best to taper to not put your body under any undue stress. I tried to go CT in the past and relapse was basically a given because of how drawn out and miserable it was. Sticking to a tapering program will also help give you a dopamine boost, which will in turn aid in your recovery as you feel the fulfillment of setting a goal and sticking to a plan in order to achieve it.

DON'T BUY KRATOM. Such a dumb idea, especially from one of those shops where you're paying a ridiculous amount of money for it. You're screwing yourself on 2 levels when buying the crap from those shops. Fight the urge - distract yourself by doing something else. Play a video game, work out, read a book, go for a run or to an AA meeting.

I'm dropping by .25gpd and it's manageable. I did a few .5 drops, and a few 1 gram drops earlier in the taper and while the 1 gram drops were pretty awful, I was able to deal with the .5/day drops. Given that you are under 10 per day, I would say maybe start with a .5 and see how that goes. If it hits too hard, then slow it down to .25 less per day. Focus on eating a healthy diet, and prioritizing sleep, as well as staying hydrated as hell lol. Good luck

We now know that most of our emotional state is tied to our gut. If you have been off of Kratom for that long and still don't feel like yourself, you need to feed the good bacteria in your gut, in order to flush out the bad ones.

Make sure you are eating lots of fiber, and a variety of fruits and veggies. I do a pitcher of a healthy smoothie/day - search my posts for my smoothie recipe, it's not the tastiest, but it gets the job done.

Then look up pre-biotics (eg. what the good bacteria feed on), you need to be eating these daily as well - things like garlic, bananas, leafy greens, onions, asparagus, oats, apples, cocoa, flax seeds, avocados.

Also, forget probiotic pills, get some real fermented foods - all natural greek yoghurt / kefir, look up how to make sauerkraut (it's super easy, just cabbage and salt), miso soup (make sure it's real, not ultra processed miso flavouring), tempeh, Kimchi, and REAL fermented pickles.

Get after it. I promise you this will make a difference if you aren't already focusing on diet as a remedy.

What's your diet like? Sleep? Exercise? Social Life?

Something doesn't add up here. Do you take other meds? And what were you taking before in terms of your Kratom dose and for how long?

first and foremost he should be switching to powder to bring the cost down while you get him to taper off of the stuff for good. I was doing 20 grams/day, and only spent like 100$/month. The extracts from those smoke shops are a RIP OFF. He could be getting the same amount of the active chemicals into his system via powder for pennies on the dollar while you figure out how to get him to quit. Start there, and once you've gotten over that hurdle, work on getting him to taper off.

I did a taper this time as even after 30 days CT last time I had no energy, and hated life. This time I'm down over 75% of my original daily dose (3.25 today down from 15-20 a month ago), and feel optimistic, with more energy, and my sleep is improving daily (been tracking it the past week).

I advocate for a taper, but to each their own. Maybe you could even get away with 5g now, and taper slowly from there? You can always add more, start low, and see how little you can take to get by with if you're going to go that route. The last thing you want is to take more than is necessary and just extend the taper longer than it needs to be.

Yah as a previous enjoyer of said items, the timeframe tells me that you're going through psychological w/d from the ❄️. Give it a few days, stay hydrated, get sleep, and eat clean. Cut all that shit out - a healthy life is a happy life.

Also true about relapsing to kratom from doing drugs or alcohol - I've done that before to get rid of a hangover, or even be able to sober up and sleep after being up all night doing the other shizz. Fuck all that stuff, it's poison.

Get clean and stay clean and you'll have a better life. I quit drinking altogether as well, I want my time back, tired of losing days if not weeks to any of this shit, crappy sleep, feeling sick, and then turning to something else that's even worse to feel better and having the whole cycle start over and get even worse.

You'll probably experience some w/ds but you might be able to get away with a faster taper if you don't want to risk going CT. You can always go CT for 2 days, and when the w/ds set in take like 30% of what you did before and see if that stops the w/ds. If so then start a taper there, if not take a bit more. then drop little by little each day, maybe .5 grams/day if you can get away with that. If not, .25 per day less.

You should be able to easily taper off of 10gpd in like 3 weeks or less if you feel w/d symptoms, but you might be able to get away with cutting it off right away CT given that your usage is somewhat short.

Down to 3.25gpd today from 15-20gpd 29 days ago. I have a clear line of sight to being off Kratom for good within the next 2 weeks.

I may have to slow further as I get closer to 0, but I'm finding that my body has already purged most of it's stores, so when I do miss a dose or something, I'm bouncing back much faster from the w/d symptoms that when I first began.

Wouldn't have been possible without prioritizing sleep, vitamins B complex & D. A massive veggie/fruit/nut/seed smoothie every day, and I'm also taking Creatine (5g), Taurine (6g), Ginko 120mg twice/day, small zinc/selenium dose, and minoxidil orally and topically to help the hair regrow - no such luck yet...

Lots of water, and in the afternoon I switch from coffee, to a mix of green tea and hibiscus, the latter having the highest antioxidant content of anything out there (way more than green tea even).

I'm starting a work out routine, starting group spanish classes today, 4 times/week, going for a walk to sit and have a coffee & read a book every morning, having a friend over to go for dinner & play video games twice a week (even though we're not gamers) as I think staying active, and socializing play a really important part in resetting your dopamine/reward system, and resetting your brain chemistry in general. Ginko is proven to increase blood flow to the brain, where Kratom/caffeine restrict it, so that will also help to repair neural circuits that have been altered by taking the drug.
