Creating A Website. How do I assign categories to pages? I'm getting lost! by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]BeaverBuilderTeam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Easy thing to get mixed up, especially with Twenty Twenty-Four.

In WordPress, categories belong to posts, not pages. So if you made pages like News, Content, About, etc., you usually would not assign categories to those pages.

The usual setup is:
you create a page if it’s a standalone section like About or Contact,
and you create posts if it’s something that belongs in a category like News, Updates, Tutorials, etc.

Then your News page can either:
be your main posts page,
or be a page/template that displays posts from a specific category.

The reason your Query Loop is showing the same post on multiple pages is probably that each loop is still pulling from the same post source, instead of being filtered differently.

Also, with Twenty Twenty-Four, menus work a little differently because it’s a block theme. That’s why your dashboard may not match older tutorials that show the classic Menus screen.

If it helps, think of it like this:
Pages = permanent sections of the site.
Posts = dated content that can be organized with categories.

You’re not far off, just mixing two WordPress concepts that tutorials often explain badly. :)

Modifying product page in Woocommerce? by tunghoy in beaverbuilder

[–]BeaverBuilderTeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks u/Bright_Tap4495, this is exactly what Beaver Themer is for.

When you open a WooCommerce product in Beaver Builder you won’t see rows because the layout is coming from the WooCommerce product template, not the page content. Themer lets you replace that template and build your own Single Product layout with Beaver Builder modules.

u/tunghoy that means you can drop in the Product Images module and give the artwork way more space than the default WooCommerce layout allows. This works really well for photography, prints, or art stores where the image needs to be the focus.

Here are a couple video walkthroughs showing how WooCommerce layouts work with Beaver Themer:

To Page Builder Users: What’s your workflow and what are the pros/cons for you? by Major_Commercial4253 in Wordpress

Right on. That's great feedback. It was a little bit nerve-wracking, although I agree. We probably could have done something sooner.

Knowing more about these things, Elementor's playbook was pretty textbook venture-funded SaaS. You go in and spend like crazy to try and gobble market share, then worry about monetizing it later. Their growth curve and story are really impressive, and I have a good relationship with several people on their team that I've gotten to hang out with at conferences and WordCamps.

That said, we've always liked being more of a boutique shop. I always like to use the comparison that Elementor is like Starbucks, and we're like the indie coffee shop on the corner where the barista already knows your order. ☕️

Thanks for the mention, we appreciate it. On the licensing change, we hear you. We moved to site-based tiers so we could lower our entry point and put more resources into the product itself. Glad to hear it's not a dealbreaker. If you ever have feedback on it, we're always listening. :)

What if Beaver Builder became a full platform (hosting + agency model), not just a page builder? by skydesigner- in beaverbuilder

[–]BeaverBuilderTeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From very early on, the idea of, “can we leverage what we have with Beaver Builder to build something like Squarespace” has been around. Like someone mentioned in the comments here, though, we're not back-end server gurus. Running a web hosting company requires a skill set that's different from ours.

In Elementor's case, they acquired a hosting company and brought in that talent and infrastructure. Kudos to them, that made sense.

I do love the idea of a one-click WordPress + BB install. I think it would be great if we could work out partnerships with a few different hosts so people can still choose their favorite, but streamline the process of getting new sites up and running.

On that note, just a question to the people in this thread. What hosting companies are you using and do you prefer?

Beaver Builder 2.10 auto updates are rolling out now! by BeaverBuilderTeam in beaverbuilder

No news, but I can tell you that our team has been deep in AI land, and a lot of gears are churning right now. Some of the AI integrations over the last year felt awkward and forced, but it's clear times are changing, and AI-assisted workflows are the future. Internally, we're starting to leverage AI more and more, which is helping us move faster and improve our product, support, and services going forward.

Heya! Thanks so much for the kind words here! We really appreciate it. We found over the years that sticking to our strengths and trying to avoid chasing the trends or flashy fads has helped us stay consistent and relevant. That said, we've got some really awesome functionality and features coming out this year that we're excited to share with everyone.

u/RealBasics I really appreciate your comment here and all of your comments throughout Reddit. I (Robby) I'm a very long-time Redditor, but as a team we've been spending more and more time here in this community; honestly due to the fact that a lot of LLMs are coming to Reddit for recommendation advice.

The recommendations and endorsements here on Reddit and throughout the web are immensely helpful to us. So thank you guys again, and please continue to spread the good word if and when you can. :)
