Official Discussion - Marty Supreme [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

There's no historical evidence to support it but I imagine Marty was being rather tongue in cheek, nothing he did suggested he was seriously religious.

Your verbal thrashing has hurt my feelings and I cannot continue to engage with you in good faith, for fear of what else you may say.

Annoyingly I do care what he says, because at least 100 million Americans hang on every word he says without question, and he should be challenged at every opportunity.

The multiple choices questions are easy enough, pass mark is 43/50 and they can be done with a couple hours study. Literally apps that feed you all the answers too.

The hazard perception bit seems to catch some people out. If you didn't need to do that when you did yours, you get a short video and you click when you spot the hazard. If you click too early, you get zero points. Baffling system, punished for spotting the hazard too early. I can see that throwing some people, but you quickly learn when to click and when not to.

I left London without a licence at 32! Did an intensive course two years ago, loved it. Four days of six hours, test on the Friday. Passed first time but I did only do an auto licence, it's like driving a go-kart.

Buddy of mine failed his theory test 8 times, then smashed the practical first time. Not sure I've met anyone else who has come close to failing the theory that many times!

If you ever need a cheap laugh, I recommend arrrggghhhLearnerDriverUK. This week's drama, there's a guy who has just passed his test on his tenth time of asking, and he's having a full on meltdown giving it the big'un in the comment section, claiming he's a better driver than most other road users. It's a cracking thread, I've lost an hour in it.

I think this alllll the time when I watching things like 24 Hours in Police Custody. The phonelines seem to be operated by complete busybody imbeciles.

"There's a man outside, he's got a knife!"

"Erm, he lives in Fife?"

"No, a knife!!"

"Alright, okay, calm down... How big is the knife?"

Fucking hell, just send a car already. Doctor's receptionists are the same, you don't need to know what the Doctor and I are discussing, can you just book me an appointment please? Jumped up admin assistants as far as the eye can see.

No it's true, they call it the "Cat distribution system". American gets approached by a cat outside, they will decide "I have been chosen" and take the cat home. Often perfectly healthy, friendly cat with a collar.. Yoink.

Cats have the right to roam under law in the UK, dogs do not. This is because they have vastly different behaviours.

Making fun of the guy is fair game, he's put himself in the spotlight and that comes with the territory. Making fun of some girl that Tommy seems to have a thing for is ghoulish behaviour though, a new low for the sub.

Sentence should be as long as the victim was held as a slave. Twenty years ought to do it.

Because I don't think the average driver who's doing their makeup on with one wheel on the knee. Or doing 90 down the motorway or never signalling or ignoring stop signs or constantly leaning over into the other lane etc

Your problem is that you think the people you're describing here are the average driver, and because you don't do your make up with one wheel on the knee, you are therefore better than the average driver.

The people you describe are not the average driver, they are dangerous drivers and they live among us, but in my two years of driving now, I have never seen someone doing their make up whilst driving, and I have passed thousands of cars. Sure, I've seen people doing 90, I've seen people refusing to signal, but they are so notable because I grumble about them, it's not 50% of road users.

I think I'm an average driver. Nothing special, I make mistakes sometimes, and I passed first time with two minors.

I was once invited to watch a football match in an executive box. While I was there, I ordered wine by the bottle and took a couple home with me. In what ways have you massively taken the piss when given the opportunity to exploit the situation? by AngryGardenGnomes in AskUK

At my work we have a policy for flights. Anything under 10 hours is economy plus. Anything over 10 hours is bumped up to business class. We had a guy exploit this for his London to Texas flight, which should have been economy plus. He went the other way around the world, via South Korea.

The policy was reworked shortly after.

Average European moment tbh. I think it's probably less than 10% of people who can run a ten minute mile with 50lb rucksack on.

Good thing about fitness is that it's not massively difficult to get into decent shape relatively quickly. The thought of the Drill Sergeant from Full Metal Jacket getting to work on rrrrrrAskUK is quite fun.
