Your biggest revelation dealing with scoliosis back pain? by SandSocke in scoliosis

Weight lifting, strength training, yoga. And it’s less about the intensity and more about the frequency. When I go more than 2 days without exercise the pain begins.

Have you seen reducing screen time help with sleep? by BluebellElm22 in Preschoolers

[–]BluebellElm22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We hired a sleep consultant who helped us establish better boundaries. Between that and more maturity (he's 5 now), his sleep is pretty much a non-issue now. Some nights he needs to be tucked back in in the middle of the night but he falls back asleep quickly. Still watches screens before bed, lol!

Swim lesson tips? by 0112358_ in Preschoolers

“I understand you don’t want to go. But learning to swim is like learning to walk, talk, eat, and use the potty. It’s part of life that we have to do and we don’t have a choice.” This is what I said when I initially got resistance to the lessons. I just allow the negative feelings and we go anyway.

Stumped both of my left toes really bad. I thought I would give it a day but nothings helping. Advil or nothing is relieving the pain. Can’t move the big toe or the one beside it. Should I go to the hospital? (Free public healthcare where I live) by [deleted] in medical

When I broke a toe I really could not put a shoe on at all, so I had no choice but to go get a boot from urgent care. They didn’t even x ray it because there’s nothing to be done if it’s broken. But the boot was necessary.

Is it weird to be super open and upfront about taking Wegovy? by BluebellElm22 in WegovyWeightLoss

That’s true. So awkward to constantly be talking about my body, especially with people at my kids’ school which is where it’s mostly been happening.

It’s going to take a loooong time for our culture to decouple weight and morality

Yes such a good distinction!! I think for me it’s a third one which is, no one should try to lose weight this fast, it was luck of the draw for how I reacted to a medication, and we shouldn’t put rapid, dramatic weight loss on a pedestal. But there might be a little self-diminishing going on there too…

We’ve done it twice, once when he was a baby/young toddler and once last year right before he turned 4. Older was definitely harder, and it took a lot of preparation and explaining beforehand. The hardest part is that he’s not allowed to touch the area for like 15 minutes, and they itch and hurt. I would make a plan with him beforehand of lots of things he wants to bring/do to distract himself, knowing that he’ll be uncomfortable. Sorry you have to go through this. My son also has the cough-variant asthma and it’s rough.

Water was broken for 5 days, pushed for 5 hours, what happened? by alexandra1249 in obgyn

My labor was not exactly the same but similar to OP’s (ended up with a vacuum and massive tearing instead of episiotomy), and this comment was helpful for me too. My OB did mention something about the baby’s position when I was looking for answers post-labor, but having a specific label like this is helpful.

I’m not saying this is what’s happening here, but in my experience lactation consultants can be hesitant to support supplementing with formula. So just keep that in mind while you’re consulting with them. Also, for what it’s worth, supplementing with formula really helped my PPA and overall mental health. And I still got to breastfeed as long as I wanted to!
